Pros And Cons Of Being Overpaid
“A man wearing a helmet defending his country should get paid more than a man wearing a helmet defending a football.” This quote shows that we pay more money to people who entertain us rather than the ones who protect us from harm and danger. Men and women in the military, compared to a professional athlete, get paid on average one hundred percent less than one of these athletes.This is a very controversial issue in today's world. Most professional athletes get paid more than a person makes in one lifetime. This now raises a titanic question whether or not athletes are overpaid. I have a firm belief that they are vastly overpaid, and there are many supporting reasons. Initially, many people might say they gave a lot to charity, but on average
pro’s give only five percent of their monthly earnings a year. Sometimes you have a very charitable person who sends millions to charities, but accordingly they give negligible amounts. An additional factor is that they show it off wherever they go. Any where they go they are flaunting their money all over social media. It daunts on us like we are not good enough and that we are inane. This may cause us a lack of self-confidence and will drive you into dark places. In conclusion, they make so much money that they make more than an average person makes in a lifetime. This is an outrageous fact that should be taken into consideration when they get paid more than the President. How do we pay more money to someone who does something for five to ten years more than we do our hoi polloi much less the President? Some might say that athletes deserve the money they are paid. I agree, yes athletes deserve a good portion of money, but they don't deserve as much as they are getting. I mean, yes, we are the ones who root for them and cheer them on but we are spending our own money to essentially pay them their salaries. Don't get me wrong, they work hard and put their bodies on the line for entertainment, but they shouldn't get exorbitant amounts of money. So, in conclusion, professional athletes don't deserve as much money as we pay them, but still they should earn an exceptional amount.
