Enhancements drugs have been used since Ancient Greeks in the original Olympic Games. They would use juices to enhance their abilities to become better athlete. Even Adolf hitler would use Enhancements drugs to test on his prisoners of war. Hitler would test these drugs on his prisoners so he would know if he could make bigger stronger soldiers of war without harming his men. In 1968 in the Olympic games start testing for any type of enhancements drugs in the Olympic athletes. In the Olympic games they tested 86 athletes none of them had any type of enhancement drug in their systems. In 1998 In the Olympics a snowboarder who tests positive for marijuana has gold medal taken then returned later that year. In 2002 the MLB starts giving drug test to their players. later in 2003 they found out that over a 100 athletes have been using enhancement drugs. The 100 athletes had lost game time and 15% pay. 12 of the athletes quit and left. In 2008 First Doping Suspensions in History of Major League Soccer. The players lost 10% of their pay in soccer. They also could not play the next 2 games.
There is some pro’s and and con’s of using enhancements drugs.
First cons; performance enhancers; like steroids; have a negative effect on long-term health. If we do allow enhancements drugs then instead of taking 10 grams or 10 cc or whatever it is, they'll take 20 or 30 or even 40cc, and a vicious circle simply gets bigger. More violence outbreaks with professional athletes will grow and more people would die from overdose and the violent outbreaks could hurt or even kill some people. But there is pro’s to this subject to; such as athletes will reach their goals sooner and faster. We allow smokers keep smoking even it can harm himself and the people around him; but we say no to athlete’s to enhancements drugs and by doing this we say no to the some athletes at reaching their
goals.
My opinion on this topic is not much, but simple. I believe we should let the athletes pick if they want to or not. We can easy just separate the two groups for an example we would have non-enhancements and enhancements soccer so the athletes that don't do the enhancement drugs don't get hurt by the people that do. So by doing this we give the athletes more freedom and more room to reach their goals. Plus by doing this more people will watch and the athletic company’s such as NBA or NFL will make or money which in the out run will help with taxes to help to fix roads to build schools. We would need a lot more athletes to play the sports so it will give more people the chance to be a professional athlete and reach their goals.
