Gun Control has became one of the most highly debated subjects of social issue of this time. Do you ever wonder what lead to this major issue, and where it began? It is believed that the issue began to arise after the Kennedy assassination in 1963. This was a major shock to the country and showed the danger of guns, and the lack of control of weapons. Even with this being one of the major turning points in the history of guns and the danger they can bring if in the wrong hands, the issue began much earlier as far back as 1791. It is somewhat difficult to be able to purchase a gun. You have to go through a background and ID check before being able to purchase a gun. A lot of different things can keep you from being able to purchase a gun such as being a felon or having a charge against you, being under indictment and having mental issues, another is being an illegal Alien as well as dishonorable discharge. There are many laws in place to try and keep guns from getting into the wrong hands, and people have been pushing for stricter gun laws especially with all the fatal shootings we have had lately(Ripley). Some of the pros of gun control could be, less shootings since most of the guns are legally purchased, hopefully less violence would come with less access to guns, less suicides could be prevented if they were stricter on gun regulations to people with mental issues. As well with pros there always comes a list of cons. Some of the cons of gun control could be selling weapons on the black market because of the high demand of guns, the level of crimes with different types of weapons will increase.
