Hamburg, a major industrial center for Germany, was the target of Operation Gomorrah and extensive bombings by the British military, under the leadership and approval of prime minister Winston Churchill. Hamburg was bombed for ten days. While Hamburg was well-defended, after the first days of bombing the military buildings were effectively destroyed, and the military personnel vaporized. The rest of the bombings would simply be to demoralize and cause more destruction amongst the population.

10 days of bombing was overkill. Hamburg’s military defenses were destroyed early in the process, leading to an excessive and unnecessary amount of destruction to a target that was no longer militarily necessary, thus clearly violating Article 8(2)(a)(iv).
Additionally, under prime minister Winston Churchill, there would be a massacre of Greek civilians on December 3, 1944. On this day, a group of civilians demonstrating in support of the National Liberation Front would be massacred by British troops, with Churchill allowing the massacre to be carried out because he felt Communism within the National Liberation Front he had supported had grown too strong. Twenty-eight of the demonstrators would be killed for simply chanting “Viva Churchill, Viva Roosevelt, Viva Stalin” and holding “Greek, American, British, and Soviet flags”.
This act clearly shows that Churchill violated Article 8(2)(b)(ii) by directing civilian objects, who were obviously not military objectives, be massacred by British
