Marijuana also called weed, herb, pot, grass is a greenish gray mixture of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of cannabis sativa. Legalization of Marijuana has become a big issue in a US and it is considered to be an illegal drug but some in states, it's use for medicinal reasons. According to scientific studies, the active ingredient in cannabis remain in the body for a long time and smoking marijuana can cause the same effect as smoking cigarettes. damages, why should it be legalized? The fight for legalizing Marijuana has been going on for century.
From the medical perspective, marijuana can relieve certain types od pain, nausea, and other symptoms caused by illness like cancer, HIV, tuberculosis and so on. Nowadays, it is common for doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patient after a surgery or in incurable diseases. The effect that marijuana has is less severe to the actual drug like Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, the controlled II substance because they have severe side effects. Marijuana is often used for terminally ill patient to ease their pain and make them feel comfortable. One of the biggest advantages we get from marijuana is the medical benefit. An example of medical marijuana on a 19 year old teenager Casey that was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. He suffered from extreme abdominal pain and was losing ten pounds a week. His doctors try everything fearing that Casey might die. Casey friends made him try cannabis and he began to begin weight. He told his medical team about his use of Marijuana and they quietly supported him, her parents are also supported her. Now Casey lives in a state where cannabis has no medical law and now worries about the possible outcomes.( atarinceu). Legalization of Marijuana is an ethical issue that need to be considered seriously because it can help by reducing the amount of pain that people endure or go though after they having a pain. The legalization of marijuana has become a government issue, they are the one that need to legalize cannabis. It has been more than 40 years since congress passed the current ban on Marijuana, inflicting great harm on society just to prohibit a substance far less dangerous than alcohol( NY times). The law of medical marijuana differ from state to state. Some state allows the use of medical and some don’t. There is two synthetic cannabinoids dronabidol and nabilone are available in pill form. These drugs are FDA approved and available for prescription(jamanetwork) . Under federal law, marijuana has no currently accepted medical use and has a high potential for abuses, for these reasons doctor cannot prescribe marijuana( Jamanetwork). Doctors themselves know that Marijuana can be a relieve for their patients in severe pain that is why it is prescribe in some states but all states should consider legalizing Marijuana because it can make a big difference in the medical field and as patient will not have to encounter difficulties such as wondering if they can afford the opioid ( schedule II drugs) which is more expensive than Marijuana. Dose of marijuana is not straightforward and depend on the patient, the preparation and the way the drug is used. Medical marijuana has not been approved by the FDA yet but studies has proved that it can be an effective treatment for chronic pain, neuropathic nerve and multiple sclerosis. If some states allow it to be use why all states does not legalize the use of marijuana? Marijuana is not a lethal drug, it is safer than opioids and alcohol. The consumption of Marijuana is not toxic and I's rarely that you become addicted to Marijuana compared to alcohol or tobacco. Patient who suffers from the chronic disease doesn’t see Marijuana as a drug but as a relief for their pain and malaise. The fight against the legalization of Marijuana continue ad since it is legalized in some state, I think by 2025 or so it will be legalized in all states.
Cons
Now is the matter of if Marijuana should not be legalized from the pharmacy profession, patient and the medical perspective of it.
There is several reasons of why medical marijuana should not be legalize in the USA. The first point of view is that according to the New health advisor, marijuana damage your health. What do they mean by Marijuana damage your health is that after smoking Marijuana, your are not capable of functioning well and it affect the way of thinking, increased the chance of mental illness, it can affect your memory, your performance at school or work and you become dependent of the drug because cannabis is somewhat addicted.
Another reason of why Marijuana should not be legalize is the public will not be safe. On the influence of Marijuana, people tend to be violent and aggressive. The effect that Marijuana has on them from the time they smoke and the time they are sober is long and during that moment, they cannot have control of themselves and sometimes notice their bad behavior after the act has been posing.
The use of Marijuana is already significant in the US and if it become legalized, it will have a significant effect on the teenagers and if it become legalized for Medical purpose, Americans will use false document or prescription to have access to …show more content…
it.
According to New health advisor, Marijuana has been linked with dangerous narcotics along with cocaine and others substances that nit to our health. The legalization of marijuana will increase the number of crimes significantly. The legalization of marijuana will be dangerous for the public and society, people under the influence of marijuana react or behave differently as if they are sober.
When it comes to the point of view of the pharmacy profession, health providers think that marijuana is a dangerous drug and that there are less dangerous medicines offering the same relief for pain and other medical symptoms ( medical marijuana). Most health providers do not want to prescribe marijuana knowing that it can affect the patient in many different ways. From society point of view, the illegalization of Marijuana does not provide a means of taxation for government. It does not give the government to have control over the substances and measure of control over distribution that could be dangerous for society. The government can not take control and can not take away the criminal
Pros of legalization of marijuana
Studies has shown that Marijuana can relieve certain types of pain as nausea, vomiting, pain from cancer, AIDS and so on.
ACP review and classified marijuana as a schedule II controlled because they know that it is safe and efficacy for users. Cannabis should be legalized for several reasons. First, it is safer than alcohol after a study done by metrouk, they found that cannabis is actually 114 times less deadly than alcohol. The use of medical marijuana has already helped lower accidental deaths from overdoses of pharmaceutical drugs ( hailmaryjane). The use of marijuana has not only helped with overdoses of pharmaceutical but also helped patients with their pain. Marijuana is an effective drug. During the past few years the use of Marijuana has doubled and it will increase in the next few years. The legalization of marijuana will help medical patients that suffer through schedule II medication and it will prevent them from going to jail by purchasing marijuana to relieve their symptoms. Several states have legalized the medicinal use of marijuana. I think it will be a relief and good news for medical patients using marijuana to legalize the use of Medical Marijuana in all
States.
