Pros And Cons Of NP And Pa's
Even though physician assistants and nurse practitioners are educated, trained and conduct a large portion of medical services, the licensed physician is still responsible for all medical services provided. However, in the end, the physician reviews and signs off on every patient treated by a physician assistant or nurse practitioners.

A common misconception is that NP and PA are not capable to practice at the same level as physicians, however the majority of NP’s and PA’s do perform a majority of the same task’s and quality of care that physicians conduct on patients.

In California nurses can train, assign duties to medical assistants, only if a physician is present in the office. Otherwise, the written instruct ions maybe delegated to the nurse, so a medical assistant can perform tasks when the physician is not around. So in order to avoid serious consequences, it is better to check a medical assistant’s liabilities with a state’s law. And if a medical assistant exceeds his or her scope of practice, it is necessary to inform the supervisor about what is…

The many comparisons and contrasts to the role of a Registered Nurse (RN) to an LPN can vary by their credentials. However, there are difference and similarities in pay, education, training, abilities, and their qualifications that are required for them to practice safely, and legally. While it is true that both are ultimately charged with providing quality patient care, the differences are vast and the careers of the two are usually very different. It is unlikely that full practice for NPs will influence the physician practices negatively. According to a study by Horrocks et al. (2002) , the quality, effectiveness, safety of care offered by NPs, shows that is a safe alternative to physician care. However, the APN cannot do it alone, and a collaborating physician may be necessary in many states. Advanced Nurse Practitioners have a slight advantage practicing in New Jersey in that an APN can diagnosis and treat patients, but does require a collaborating physician to prescribe medications. However, “state laws vary widely in the level of physician oversight required for nurse practitioners, with some states allowing NPs to practice independently, while others limit NPs’ authority to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications to patients without supervision” (Yee, Boukus, Cross & Samuel, 2013, p. 1). Conversely, there are other states where the APN can prescribe, diagnosis and provide treatment without physician collaboration, yet others that a physician is needed for all 3 actions. Currently, 18 states allow APN’s to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications without physician permission including Maryland (Yee & et al., 2013).…
