National Anthem Protesting

During a preseason game Colin Kaepernick shocked the world by kneeling for the national anthem.Since then players around the N.F.L have been kneeling for the national anthem.As stated by Rob Goldberg from bleacherreport.com “Colin Kaepernick initiated the act”(Rob Goldberg/2017).With players kneeling they elicit media attention.However,as of lately they gained more attention after Donald Trump stated at his Alabama rally in late September that players who kneel during the national anthem should be punished or fired for disrespecting the flag,our military, and our nation.But players shouldn’t be punished for kneeling since they contest racial inequality and injustices present in today’s society,they have the right to protest, and they use their platform to dispute for people who don’t have a the voice or platform to fight.
