In these days, weather crisis has been increasing dramatically due to our pollution. There are around 437 nuclear power plants around the world and 66 under construction (). Do you think that nuclear power is useful and preferable to use in our daily life by building nuclear reactors? It is a debatable issue; with some people in favor of this idea and others opposed to it. According to Riccio, nuclear reactors are dangerous and expensive to construct (Riccio, 2011). However, the safety instructions must be followed and the financial problem is easy to solve. So, nuclear reactors should be built to produce electricity for several …show more content…
Solar and wind energy depend on the weather conditions (“Nuclear Energy”,n.d.). They cannot produce energy at any time. On the other hand, there is enough uranium for nuclear power for another seventy to eighty years(“Nuclear Energy”, n.d.). Also, nuclear reactors can produce energy without interrupting even for a year due to its working process mode (“Nuclear Energy ”, n.d.). Moreover, the nuclear plants need to refuel every only eighteen to twenty for months (“On Reliability”,n.d.). In 2014 in the U.S the capacity factor maintained between 95 and 98 percent, that allowed consumers to keep their light and heat on 24/7 even in extreme hot and cold weather (“Nuclear Matters ”, n.d.).
Besides environment and reliability, nuclear energy has more efficiency than burning fossil fuels. It has high energy density viruses to fossil fuels (“Nuclear Energy”, n.d.). To illustrate, a gram of uranium releases an amount of energy much more than a gram of coal or oil; approximately eight thousand times(Parker, 2010). However, that is also excellent for the environment because if the electricity -which is produced by nuclear power- produced by using the coal, will generate 147 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (Nuclear Power Institute, …show more content…
