Pros And Cons Of SMART Goals
There were many similarities and differences amongst the three studies. They all used SMART goals to improve something within the organization for better patient care. The first article they used it to create SMART goals to help make changes to their daily lives, second they used it to improve treatment goals and treatment monitoring, the third one demonstrated working collaboratively to create SMART goals increased patient outcomes. All 3 studies were done specifically on one particular unit at, the first one tried to improve CVD, second improved medical school residents treatment monitoring and third on nurses coming up with descriptive goals for the patients. They all realized SMART goals are easy to learn but need to sit down and see examples of them to better understand how to create goals. The main differences between the studies were they were all done in different countries; the sample size of each study was different. They have had a different group of study groups to preforms these tests on. They all focused on different areas of study to focus this research on.
SMART goals have provided a clear and easy outline for defining and managing goals and objectives. SMART goals bring a lot of pros and cons to an organization. SMART goals help an organization by creating clear plans or goals that are not vague. This allows them to be as detailed as possible regarding the goal they are focusing on to achieve. This allows them to pick specific priorities to focus on so they stay on task and not all over the place. Therefore, SMART goals allow the organization to track progress without difficulty.
