Fads have always been popular through history. Especially in the Victorian Era people always wanted to have perfect bodies and beautiful figures. But these diets were usually not very healthy or good for those who used them. Some are even life threatening or deadly to their participants. Others were downright strange or didn't sound like diets at all.
One such program is the Cookie Diet. While it may sound like the opposite of healthy, it’s creator Dr. Sanford Siegal advertised that you could lose weight by eating specially crafted low calorie (but high priced) cookies for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The Grapefruit Diet is a lot more structured, with planned meals for twelve days. However the Cookie Diet can last however long you wanted it too. They are also differences when it comes to the way weight is lost. The Grapefruit Diet does so quickly while the Cookie Diet usually takes a lot longer. They also are targeted at different people. The Cookie Diet is for people who have trouble cutting back on sweets and the Grapefruit Diet is for those who wish to lose weight quickly. However they are both targeted at people who want to lose weight without starving oneself. The cost is also different. The Cookie Diet is usually more expensive (again around $50.00 for one week of cookies alone) while the Grapefruit Diet* would be about 3.00 per day (Only counting for 2 grapefruits (costing about $1.50 each) and not the other meals.) However they both had special foods to eat. While they both are not the best for you, in my opinion the Grapefruit Diet is slightly better for the user than the Grapefruit Diet. This is because while the Grapefruit Diet does not provide enough calories, the Cookie Diet is not very nutritious for the user. You are after all eating cookies for most of your
