The scientific method is a structured process that provides steps used by researchers to explore unexplained phenomena. There are specific steps that when followed reduce bias in the studies. Based on the reading, respond to the following topics below:
Describe a time when you or someone you know based a decision using nonscientific thought (e.g., opinion or assumption). This should be about a paragraph.
Making a decision using nonscientific thought would be done without clear logical thinking coming into play at all. For example; if someone was looking for a house or apartment to rent. They would look for an apartment in their price range and rent the first one that came along. The person would not use any logical thinking during the process of renting a place to live, all they would be concerned with would be the price per month and how much it would cost to move in. For those who did not have enough money, often they wouldn’t even go and look at the apartment or try to talk the landlord into a payment arrangement prior to even looking, with the thought that why bother looking at the house/apartment if they can’t afford it.
