PSY 202 Week 2 Assignment
Name: Tashauna Guyer
Course: PSY 202
Assignment: Week 2 Assignment
Start Date: 2/9/15
Title: Willpower
Paragraph One: The Video for week 2 assignment is all about willpower and how it works. Having inner experiences and impulses and still directing the energy and attention to the things that matter the most to you. You have to know what you really want and not let the universe impose on you! You need to take action to have the ability to say yes to yourself. Willpower is like having three (3) powers, I (will), I (wont) and I (want). I use I (will) and I (want) powers the most and resist most of the temptations. I have self-compassion; I take small steps for small actions and get a bigger change. Sometimes we have to force ourselves to do things we really don’t want to do but need to do.
Paragraph Two:
What willpower means to me is when you hold yourself back from doing something you may regret in the future. Having willpower is the ability to recognize when you’re about to do something that is inconsistent with your culture, values, and literally put on the I won’t brakes on and say I will. A time I used willpower when I tried to lose some weight. See I’m the kind of person who likes my junk food. I had to have the willpower not to eat those and try to eat healthier snacks. It did work I lost a few pounds. Although I am the kind of person that hid my feelings with food, by not eating those foods it made me have to talk through more of my problems. I was very proud of myself, because it took a lot of willpower. I felt so good though once I was done.

Paragraph Three The one situation where that as a college student, I am facing I would have to say would be getting to a place there is a computer to use for school assignments. There are some days that I don’t feel like leaving my house, I use my willpower however to tell myself if I want to get a good job and do work I love then I have to go to school and work for it. There are days it’s too cold or snowy

It has been more than three years that I know this applicant. When I joined Kepler in 2014, this applicant was a student in the first year. During that academic year, I taught her communications and other skills that helped her to work well on her projects. Through her works and class participation, I could see that she was a hard work. She always met deadlines and make sure her works were of high quality. Another thing is that she was always looking for support whenever needed. In fact, whenever she found out that she missed something in class, she could attend office hours for clarification. In 2015, when she was hired as a course facilitator, she was very committed, determined and responsible. In fact, when she had to work on any task, she made sure to complete it on time and with efficiency. Till now, her actions show that she is collaborative. She really believes in team work. In fact, she knows that for a team to be…

Times are changing different cultures; they come and go but are going back to their old cultures. Since the beginning of time humans always have a key feature in their nature that help them evolve, become smatter, and acquire their rights; also, one of the biggest features that is changing throughout time is will. Will is the desire or drive to do something, so a strong willed person is someone with a powerful will. Through time, humans of all races and cultures have used will in a good way. For example, when Martin Luther King was locked in jail after protesting for the treatment of blacks, he still kept his will strong, even after everything he had gone through. we have no control over our will. I first thought of this as a true premise till we talked about it in class. In an objection given in the notes and in class is that we have no control over what our desires are, we are free to resist them. This made me think of all the bad situations, people can be in but yet even they have desires to do certain actions they resist those desires. This is a showing that people have free will.…

"The will to power." A strong statement made by the philosopher, Nietzsche. He explains this statement in his work, "Thus Spake Zarathustra." It can be found in multiple sections explaining different topics. When Nietzsche uses the phrase, "the will to power," he means the ability to extend oneself to the furthest of capabilities. He believes that humans have the ability to always do their best, and try their hardest to improve themselves. In this work, he says that humans must overcome themselves and move towards that which is hardest. Giving up is not an option for him, unless in giving up you are pushing yourself to be greater.…

There is one area that I lack in determination. I lack determination to go to church on Sundays. This is another aspect of determination, but it is very similar. Faith is a very powerful thing. A person with a very strong faith will find that even in the worst of times, there is a potential positive outcome. There have been many times that my faith has been tested. My faith is tested every day with everything that I do. If I do not have faith that there is another outcome in the end, then what is the point in being successful while I am here. The day I realized just how strong faith is, was the day that I was saved. That was the greatest day of my life. The amount of emotion that was forced out of me was like a knockout blow from a heavyweight boxer. The emotion that I was showing was not a bad emotion, it was a matter of having all the problems that I have and will have in the future, being lifted off my shoulders. Having faith can be one of the hardest things to have, it takes a strong-willed individual to not lose their faith at…

I was very lucky to have gotten this attribute. What got me this characteristic was that very day when Leslie had told me she was getting surgery. The reason why Leslie was the reason I endured this characteristic was because I had the mindset to take care of Leslie yet, prioritize myself to also finish my homework. Today, I use this mindset of being determined in my everyday life. I used it for many of my extracurricular activities like the National Technical Honor Society, Link Crew, Leadership and Yearbook. Although I use them in my extracurricular activities, I also use determination to complete many school projects, essays and even to the extent, homework. In National Technical Honor Society, I utilize determination when we create projects to help build awareness for others like, donating blood for the blood drive and encouraging recycling to make the earth a better sufficient place. While in Link Crew, I manipulate the power of determination to help exemplify students to be the best they can be and to also have the best school experience as possible. In,Leadership I use determination to set an example for younger students to follow by staying positive, even under stress or frustration. As a matter of fact, I also use determination when the class is under a timed schedule with getting major events done. Above all, Yearbook is the one I intend to succeed in the most. Creating the Yearbook is like creating a story; I am so bound to making the book breathtaking compared to the previous ones. I am constantly adamant to get all my pages done on time, but also making sure they are very creative and well organized and thought out. As a result, in all of these accomplishments I have been known to be successful with the help of being…

Defining willpower is very difficult. Willpower has many different names, such as determination, self-control, or resisting temptations. The use of willpower helps individuals choose not to do something that would be detrimental to their future life goals and short goals. It can also be looked at as the act of establishing good reasons for an individual to either do something or not to and then react upon them. For example, a short term goal might be choosing to cut out processed sugar so an individual may lose weight or a long term goal of no sugars for maintaining a healthy weight. “At its essence, willpower is the ability to resist short-term temptations in order…
