It is the field of psychology that more closely examines the impact of maturational processes (as well as experience) on behavior. Developmental psychologists are also required to study the environmental and biological aspects that affect individuals. In order to become a developmental psychologist, there are requirements that a graduate would need to complete in order to be eligible. Most states in the United States require developmental psychologists to have a masters or doctorate degree in developmental psychology. Though many colleges do not offer a bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology, a lot offer a specialization or concentration in the area. Rehabilitation psychology is the clinical specialty of psychology. The psychologist works with their patient to provide clinical and counseling services, as well as assisting them with adjusting to or coping with traumatic, chronic, congenital illnesses or injuries that may result in a various types of sensory, physical, developmental, and/or emotional disabilities. As a rehabilitation psychologist, one must consider the biological, psychological, social, environmental, and political factors that affect the functioning of their patients. Rehabilitation psychologists are also involved in public health programs that assist in preventing disabilities, caused by violence abuse and substance abuse, for example.
