Inception
“Well, dreams, they feel real while we’re in them, right? It’s only when we wake up that we realize that something was actually strange” (inception). In the movie inception Dom implants someone’s idea into a target subconscious. This movie inception demonstrates what it is like to try and control the unconscious human mind. As you could see in the film the characters struggled with trying to overcome and control their unconscious mind.
Don Cobb wants to control his subconscious mind and change the memories he had but he is not able to. Throughout the movie Cobb tries to dream and figure out a way to control his subconscious to change the memories he had that taunt him. Saito a man who has asked Cobb to steal information from Fischer’s mind so the empire can crumble and dissolve. Cobb agrees to the job because he was promised to be able to go home to see his children. To successfully accomplish this task Cobb had to get in Fischer’s dreams and plant the idea in his mind that he needs to be his own person, to do his own thing, and to be better then his father. A really significant scene was when Fischer opens the safe in his dream and there were the papers to his fathers business. Fischer opens the safe and turns away. This is important because inception worked on him. When he woke up feeling this urge inside to “be different” and that was the goal. Cobb’s super ego influenced him to find things out that is why he was so successful with this job. Cobbs’ Id is another factor to being so successful. He desired being home, to see family, and to change memories. All of those factors are what kept Cobb determined to perform
