1) Distinguish between operant conditioning, observational learning, and social learning. How are these different kinds of learning utilized in the work place? Give specific examples for each one.
a) Operant conditioning is the learning through voluntary responses and its consequences. A specific behavior is performed and from that behavior there is a consequence. For me, in the workplace, I know that if I complete my jobs assigned to me then I am complimented on my achievements. Also, more specifically, if I have someone call and request a specific issue be resolved and I assist them in a timely fashion, then they are content and happy with the service received.
b) Observational learning is the process or behavior of learning by watching others. By watching what others do and learning from their actions mistakes can me possibly eliminated. For me, this is very important. Everything that I have learned in regards to my job has been learned from watching someone else do the same thing. Some things I have learned because someone taught me and completely the task successfully. Some things have been learned from other people’s mistakes. Either way, in the computer networking industry, observational learning is a huge part of my training.
c) Social learning is behaviors learned by watching others as well, but it’s more emotional learning. It involves learning through behavior. In working, I can say that observing my manager and coworkers and the way they react situations does have an impact on the way I may react to a situation or specific people. Mind you, someone who constantly calls the help desk number or puts in unnecessary tickets, if I notice that my coworkers may get an attitude about it or frustrated, in many instances it will frustrate me as well if I am directly confronted with a similar situation.
2) How is prejudice developed and nurtured through classical and operant conditioning? Give specific examples that

The two types of theories that were mentioned in this book were social learning theory and Psychoanalytic theory. The social learning theory was developed by Albert Bandura. Social learning theory talks about that humans learn by observing other. This is also called modeling or observational learning. In simple terms, a child follows what others does and tries to do the same task. If a child sees their mother making food in some pots, and the child starts to pretend making food their toys is an example of social learning theory by child observation. Modeling occurs when the observer is inexperienced. In addition, when people see others achieving their goals and solve problems, it gives more encouragement for the observer to achieve that…

This learning occurs from observation, imitation or modeling of another person or role model. Modeling is the process of imitating. We can also learn new behavior from individuals we meet or from the media. This is also known as observational learning developed by Albert Bandura. Individuals, groups and culture have an effect on the behavior of people in the society. A feature of a person/model that may influence us to imitate is; gender, similarity to ourselves, social status, fame, competence and prestige.…

Everyone has asked at point in their lives; who am I? Everyone will go through great lengths to figure out exactly that answer. Because of that no topic in psychology today is more heavily researched than self (Myers, D.G., 2012). These feelings come about for a number of reasons. We develop a number of feelings for reasons that are related to group dynamics, genetics perhaps, and social influence. There are so many influences on the relationships that we develop.…

(1st post) Classical conditioning is learning that occurs when a neutral stimulus becomes paired with an unconditioned stimulus to elicit a conditioned response (Carpenter &Huffman, 2010, p.144). Operant conditioning is learning in which voluntary responses are controlled by their consequences (Carpenter & Huffman, 2010, p.149). My parents influenced me best by operant conditioning. When I did well and work hard on something they used reinforcement; a consequence that strengthens a response and makes it more likely to recur (Carpenter & Huffman, 2010, p.149) to encourage me to keep doing well. When I did something I wasn’t supposed to do or just straight out misbehaved they used punishment; a consequence that weakens a response and makes it less likely to recur (Carpenter & Huffman, 2010, p.149) to get me to act right and do what I was supposed to do.…

Addictions can be developed or removed by using operant conditioning in subjects. Despite operant and classical conditioning being used to develop phobias and addictions, extinction can be used in both to remove the current conditionings.…

Operant Conditioning molds behavior by the consequences of an individual through punishment, reinforcement and extinction. Observational Learning happens from observing the behavior of other individuals. Social Learning is a behavior learned from a social environment. Prejudice is developed and nurture through classical and operant conditioning from an early age when an individual acts prejudice towards something and is rewarded for acting in such a way or saying such things. For example A parent, say father, says (and please do not take offence towards this it is only an example!) “Stupid wet-back, they’re no good for anything but taking our jobs!” a son or daughter will learn that this is applicable behavior. Then when the child, son or daughter, says something along the same lines around his or her father the father would agree, laugh or show affection towards the child’s comment. Thus the behavior is not being corrected allowing the ignorant behavior to continue. For my presentation I would use Rhyme-keys and Loci Method to help me remember notes and slides. I would Use Rhyme-keys for myself on key words in the slides to help me remember key ideas with Loci Method with pictures and diagrams in the slides to better help my memory. For example if I had a slide on the marketing sale rates on, say computers being sold I would use a graph with percentages over time with a scale on sale rate, I would use key words to explain the key points for why there is a clime or fall in sales. Cognitive, physiological, and behavioral are the three qualities. Cognitive is a mental process that involves memory, attention, understanding language, producing language, reasoning, problem solving and decision making. Physiological deals with the understanding of one’s own body, hygiene and appearance. Emotional is in regards to self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. If I were interviewing applicants for a position in my company I…

The social learning theory suggests that an individual’s behaviors and thoughts are shaped by observations (Hutchinson, 2016). This theory uses social behavioral aspects of conditioning and discusses that individuals’ behaviors are prompted by emotions and thoughts. The emotions and thoughts that are displayed by a person are thought of as behaviors that need an explanation (Hutchinson, 2016). The conditioning principles used are operant conditioning and classical conditioning (Hutchinson, 2016). Operant conditioning is the use of reinforcements or punishments, while classical conditioning uses the pairing of stimuli to learn (Hutchinson, 2016). Modeling is a form of the social learning theory. This form states that behaviors can be learned…
