Analyse learning and teaching strategies used in own specialism

Evaluate the effectiveness of approaches to learning and teaching in own specialist area in meeting needs of learners * Working with a diverse range of adult learners who have been long term unemployed, it is easy to fall into the trap of focusing on the needs of some learners and not others. Rogers,a Humanist theorists, argues that teachers should establish ‘an atmosphere in which their learners feel comfortable and able to discuss new ideas.’ (Gravells, 2012, p.32). This would ensure that my learners are not solely reliant on me for learning, but actively explore the issues around employability and personal development for themselves – this is the first step in a move

    More contemporary views of learning recognize the importance of allowing students to take control of their own learning by participating in active learning, which includes a variety of teaching methods such as small group discussions and teacher driven questioning.
