The military experienced tend to hold themselves to a much higher standard than a civilian. They incorporate discipline into everything they do. Two examples of this incorporation can be seen in the aspects of punctuality and physical appearance. There have been numerous accounts of civilians identifying military personnel by the way that they carry themselves more assertively and appear much more professional in their general choice of attire, this cannot be said for civilians. It seems that the non-military experienced struggle with the definition of proper or professional when it comes to attire, they also to attempt to find a submissive resting position no matter the occasion. Military members are also taught to be punctual; they are instilled with the idea of showing up at least fifteen minutes before the required time. However, this characteristic doesn’t seem to hold the same importance for civilians, they strain the limits of punctuality and even show up late to important events such as college lectures.…

Sixty minutes in an hour, twenty-four hours in a day, three hundred sixty-five days in a solar year; but time has always been used to measure and record important events. This has never been more evident as it has been in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In this era of human history, punctuality is one of the key elements of our workforce, and particularly in the military.…

It is important to realize that it is necessary for a person to hold themselves at a higher standard if the wish to excel in life, the military, or whatever you wish to succeed in. Punctuality remains and always will be an extremely vital aspect of military bearing and discipline. It has a direct connection to a person’s appearance, task effectiveness, and essentially every aspect of life and responsibility. I cannot place enough importance on how significant being on time constantly is. For instance; a person who is late or does not report at all to a place at the time stated effectively compromises and reduces the efficiency of which the task or mission at hand can be completed. It also makes it so other people are waiting on you to put out information. This makes it so you waste their time so then they may be late for something and you make them look bad. No one should every try to be sabotaging someone else because of their laziness and inability to be considerate of others.…

Punctuality is a very important thing in life. Getting to work on time when you are supposed to, is punctuality. Showing up for a meeting on time is punctuality. Showing up for an appointment on time is punctuality. It is very important to make it on time for work, meetings, formations (ten minutes prior), and appointments. Appointments in this case, are very important to make it to on time. It is best to show up for appointments early. If you leave home early to get to your appointment, it is much less likely you will be held up and become late by traffic or any accidents you may come upon as you drive to your appointment. Missing appointments lets several people down. There are people expecting to see you, you are letting them down. There are people that need to be seen by the people you made an appointment with, you are letting them down by taking up valuable time from a dentist, doctor, optometrist, etc. when they could be there instead of you and having things they need taken care of. In the military, not showing up for an appointment is also letting down your squad leader, your unit, and the whole military organization. It can cost the Army a lot of money to schedule an appointment for you and then have you not show up for it. By missing an appointment, you also show that you lack discipline and responsibility. It does not look good to your leaders and makes it seem like you can not be trusted with simple tasks. Punctuality is a big part of impression and it is very important to make a good impression. When you lack punctuality, it sets a bad example to others, friends, family, as well as other soldiers. If you were not taught in civilian life or learned through having a job, in basic combat training in the military you are certainly taught to show up early and be on time for formations and that should carry over to other aspects of your life, such as appointments. Missing appointments takes away from everyone's very valuable time. There is not excuse for…

I’m writing this essay about how important it is to maintain deadlines. Deadlines are defined as something that must be done within a certain amount of time. The lesson that should be learned when it comes to deadlines is how to manage your time efficiently. When you can fulfill a deadline it shows to your peers and leaders that you are a committed person to the task that is given. Time frames for deadlines can vary from short or long term depending on what it is. Without a deadline to meet you could simply drag out whatever it is you’re working on for as long as possible, which is hardly a productive way of working. It is therefore important to meet any deadlines that have been set, because there is an expectation on the part of the Non-commissioned officer that you will come up with what they are asking for within a set time-frame. If you fail to meet a deadline, you are left looking extremely unprofessional, and if you develop a reputation for missing deadlines, this could hamper your career progress. Clearly, then, it is important to meet deadlines for your sake as well as your Non-commissioned officer’s. If you have been told a deadline then the chances are that your Non-commissioned officer is not the only one who is going to be directly affected by it. Your Non-commissioned officers may have to answer to other leaders and explain to them why there has been a failure to meet the set deadline. This reflects badly on them and yourself. If you have been set a deadline you need to meet it. You may not even receive a reference if you did not come up with the necessary items on time, which is why it is essential that you organize your time and learn to prioritize. If you fail to do so, you could find yourself with a growing heap of work that never seems to shrink. You certainly don’t want to find yourself in the position of having to explain yourself to the platoon sergeant or First Sergeant why you have not been getting what was…

The reason for me to be writing this essay is for not being to attend to my first formation. The reason for that to happen is that I never woke up, never heard my alarm. There is no excuse for that I was being irresponsible. The first formation is one of the most important things in the military. Because is us for accountability and to brief the soldier on what’s going on in the day and what need to happen before the end of the day. Being punctual in the military is very important it shows what kind of soldier you are and it shows respect to the unit ant for those is command. Also is very important to always be punctual for example if a soldier is not punctual in the battlefield it could cost lots of life in case their hit by enemy forces. Every soldier needs to be punctual doing their respective jobs. If a soldier knows that he’s going to be late the proper way of doing it is to notify he’s chain of commands and let them know that he will be running late. Like I said before there is no excuse for being late but this action most not continue or happen again because it will affect the soldier’s career. For me I don’t want this to happen again I want to be a good soldier with leadership to progress in my military career. The first step I need to put in action is making sure I am always accounted that means being always in time to my first formation and of course also being at the right place. A good way of making of sure that you will be on time in setting up a timeline 15 to 20 minutes before the specified time. This is a simple task that is really easy and painless to follow through it will not be a problem to be accomplished. That will be a good example of being on time base on the actual dictionary definition of the word punctuality “acting or arriving exactly at the time appointed”. Punctuality shows that you are a responsible soldier, trustworthy and able to follow orders. Those will open doors in your military career like promotions and special tasks or…

ABSTRACT SHETYE, TARA. Differences in Attitudes Towards Time at Work: Validation of the Time Preferences at Work Scale. (Under the direction of Frank J. Smith.) The purpose of this research was to develop an instrument to measure differences in workers’ preferences related to the passage of time at work. Previous research indicates that this construct may have implications for the effectiveness of work teams, as well as other work outcomes such as person-organization fit. However, current methods of measuring time preferences are incomplete. Using a ten-factor theoretical framework introduced by Brislin and Kim (2003), a comprehensive instrument was designed and validated. In the first step of the validation, content validity evidence and item quality were assessed, demonstrating that the items were of acceptable quality and content-appropriate. Construct validity was then assessed. Undergraduate students (N = 601) responded to the 186-item questionnaire, as well as a variety of personality and background items. Analyses were conducted in three stages. In the first stage, an exploratory factor analysis revealed a six-factor structure to the items. The second stage of analysis used confirmatory factor analysis to test this structure. Finally, convergent and discriminant validity were assessed. Overall, the findings suggest that this scale is psychometrically sound and suitable for use in organizations.…

Punctuality shows that you are responsible, trustworthy and can follow directions. Punctuality isn't just an order that the Army requires, but also a good personal trait that is a reflection of a person’s character, it shows that you have personal integrity and self-discipline. While some of us are occasionally late due to circumstances beyond our control, habitual tardiness shows a lack of respect for other people and their time. If someone is late continually that shows that they more then likely do not care about what their NCO tells them. Time is a precious gem that should not be wasted at any cost. If you don't use your time wisely, you can never get it back. It is a very special resource in that you cannot store it or save it for later. Promptness is not only a duty, but is also a part of good manners, it is favorable to fortune, reputation, influence, and usefulness. Lack of punctuality is a theft of someone else's time and a complete lack of respect for others. You should be punctual in everything you do. Punctuality goes hand in hand with military discipline. Recruits are taught to obey, immediately and without question, orders from their superiors, right from the day one of boot camp. Military discipline and effectiveness is built on the foundation of obedience to orders. This is why we are supposed work so well as a team. By following orders from the more…

Punctuality in the academic domain is etiquette as it is a habit of doing things on a timely manner, keeping in mind the importance of time. Students ought to be punctual since it is the key to success. One of the causes of punctuality is procrastination, which is the lack of seriousness on the partial part of some students who take things lightly.
