It is very important to do as instructed on the sign when coming up to it; it can save the lives of you and your passengers, along with other people in their own vehicles. The state does not put up stop signs for no reason, they intend for them to help people be cautious while driving. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers. (http://www.rmiia.org/Auto/Teens/Teen_Driving_Statistics.htm) Now being a teenager and having a ticket, reguarding speeding, running a stop sign or anything at that matter has made me realize how selfish I was to the fact that I was putting my life as well as others on the line. To you running a stop sign might not be a big deal, but to someone who has had a family member die because of an irresponsible person failing to stop and hitting their car, is a huge thing to them. On Monday, January 28, 2008 in St. Luis a man by the name of Ramon Baez, a 67-year-old Morro Bay resident failed to come to a stop at a stop sign. This failure to stop resulted in the three car accident Monday afternoon according to reports, sending two people to the hospital and one person pronounced dead.
