A. Innovation- the process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value for the customers
Innovation is the development of new customers value through solutions that meet new needs, inarticulate needs, or old customer and market needs in value adding new ways.
PURPOSEFUL INNOVATION - Purposeful innovation comes from invention and in turn invention is driven by research and a vision. Today, the development of new fuel technologies is the by-product of purposeful innovation - it is not merely stumbled upon.
B. Examples of purposeful innovation-
Samsung galaxy camera :
* The Samsung GALAXY Camera gives the magic of professional digital photography with the powerful intelligence of the Android Jelly Bean OS. It’s the smartest camera ever, with stunning photographic output and a range of exceptionally rich professional shooting modes, editing features and various apps. Going pro has never been this easy or this fun. * Instantly share pictures without Wi-Fi and transfer them to home base for back up
* Another example is of emergency brakes in cars (Volvo) :
Emergency brake is designed to detect such "panic stops" and apply maximum braking effort within milliseconds. It interprets braking behavior by assessing the rate that the brake pedal is activated.
* An electronic system designed to recognize emergency braking operation and automatically enhance braking effort improves vehicle and occupant safety, and can reduce stopping distances by up to 70 ft (21 m) at 125 mph (201 km/h)
* The Volvo system Collision Warning with Auto Brake 'CWAB' uses radar to detect when a collision is likely and will pre-charge the brakes so that when the driver uses the brakes, however lightly, full braking is applied. The system will also flash a light and make a warning sound, if the driver does not respond to the warning at the point where a collision cannot be avoided
