Pursuing A Career In Social Work
I was raised in a strict Christian environment. My family’s beliefs were constructed on the bases of the bible and my understanding of morals and principles were dictated by the bible. I learned as a child that Christianity was the only true religion and moral standards should not diverge from the bible’s standards. We were taught to avoid people of other religions especially when their intentions were to convert or oppose my Christian beliefs and values. Moreover, I cannot remember growing up having any friends from other religious backgrounds. In terms of race and sexual orientation it was rarely discussed in my household. Though, of course, being raised in a in a low-income community among majority African American families most white people were automatically viewed as privileged. And my family views of sexual orientation were structured by our interpretation of Christian morals. …show more content…
I am compelled to expand my knowledge and skills so I will effectively serve my clients from all races, ethnicities, gender, cultures, and sexual orientations. Regarding the interview with Trump and T I would personal refute Trump’s implied agreement that all Muslims are criminals and terrorists. In November 2009, the Care Council produced ‘Social Work Career Pathway, A Discussion Paper’. This paper sets out a plan for developing a national career pathway for social workers in Wales, linked to a framework for post qualifying education and training. The proposed career pathway is intended to strengthen the retention of experienced social workers in frontline roles. It is also designed to ensure that social workers have the necessary knowledge and skills, and access to learning and support, to help them deliver high-quality services at all stages of their careers. The career pathway caters for newly-qualified social workers, as well as experienced practitioners, and the development of new roles such as the Consultant Social Worker. The career pathway discussion paper was the subject of a report to Care Council in January 2010. The paper was circulated widely to and discussed by stakeholders including with the National Strategic Advisory Partnership for Social Work Training, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Association of Directors of Social Services. Overall, there is support for the career pathway model and the opportunity it presents for raising the status of the social work profession and standards of practice. The proposed career pathway and associated Continuing Professional Education and Learning (CPEL) framework has been presented to the Social Work and Social Care Workforce Task Group established by the Deputy Minister for Social Services. The Task Group has agreed that the career pathway and CPEL framework should be recommended to the Deputy Minister when the Task Group reports in November 2010. - See more at: http://www.ccwales.org.uk/career-pathway-for-social-workers/#sthash.bSqsF8to.dpuf…

My name is Abby Shonk and I talked with you Monday about changing my major to social work. After looking at the Fall/2017 schedule you made for me I had a question about taking bio and sw320 in the same semester. I noticed that in order to take sw320 I must complete a bio class. Can I take sw320 and bio at the same time or do I have to have bio completed? I received a D in the class so does that mean I can still take sw320 because I…

Ever since I was in fourth grade, I have enjoyed helping kids and watching them learn new things and grow. The best feeling is helping children with something and watching their faces light up as they discover what they can do all by themselves. While in fourth and fifth grade, I was a part of the buddy program at my school which entailed spending every lunch in the special education classroom at my elementary school. A trait I possess is being sequential and that is useful for the career I want because it will help me with staying organized and grading papers. I am an analyzer, I like to know what is going on around me and love to know how things work. This is a trait that comes in handy with being an elementary school teacher.…

I really liked reading your post. I also thought about working in a private practice setting. I think that working in a small setting, there is a lot more job security. Working in a high-populated setting means that there is a lot of competition in order to progress at work. I love competition, but I really don’t want to be in competition with about twenty-five other social workers. You have a lot of experience. I have barley even been alive for twenty years. I think that your experience will be very useful in social work. At my practicum, I work in a cubical and make dozens of phone calls a day. I rally don’t like to work in a cubical, I love doing field work, its when we visit peoples homes and actually talk to people in their settings. I…

I live in a household with an intensely religious mother. I was taught that people were straight, married straight, and felt straight. If anyone had different feelings they had some deep rooted issues and needed to find God. Until I was twelve, I accepted this. Why would my parents mislead me in any way? They were, of course, all knowing about the world. When I moved to my third new school in 6th grade, I was introduced to new people and new information. As my view of the world began to expand I became less enthralled with the views about sexuality I had been given at home.…
