Pursuit to Happiness The pursuit to happiness means different things to different individuals, such as the true key to one's pursuit to happiness. This can be a number of areas of life such as family, friends, and the true understanding of one's own self happiness. I believe that for some people material things can make them happy, but for only a short while. The true answer to an individuals happiness is knowing who you are and what really makes you happy deep down inside of your soul. There are different factors that play a roll in an individuals pursuit to happiness. These factors can be an individuals physical and mental health, …show more content…
workplace, family, friends, religion, race, education and gender. Lets take a close look at all of these factors and what they may hold in common. The one idem I believe they could all have in common is complete understanding of one's own mind, body, and soul. Men and women have a different way of finding their happiness, but studies have found that men and women have roughly the same overall levels of self-reported happiness (e.g., Diener &Suh, 1998; Inglehart, 1990).
I believe these levels of happiness include nothing more but money and material things that people have nowadays. We have lost our way as to what real happiness is truly all about and how to be really happy. Here is an idea, look at the way Americans see happiness and how other countries see happiness. Each country has their own way of viewing happiness and what should make their people happy. I find this to be a misconception. We are all individuals and we all see things in a different way such as what makes us happy or feel fulfilled inside. People who are viewed as happy in our country today are also seen as being rich, having a loving family, and a great occupation. Our society is attracted to material things, rather than spiritual ones. I believe we are lost in the meaning of happiness. When I say that we are lost, I mean, I believe people tend to think that they need material things to keep them happy with their lives. An individual needs to really ask themselves can I really be happy with out these material things. I believe each of us could achieve true happiness, if only we would stop searching for it in all the wrong …show more content…
places. Happiness is of both a positive and a negative emotion.
Positive happiness is when an individual truly finds what completes their inner soul of happiness such as who they really are and how they really see themselves. Negative happiness is trying to find happiness in things such as material stuff, which to me are not important to one's true happiness. Most of the happiness that we experience comes from the feeling of love, laughter, pleasure, satisfaction and inner joy. Happiness is also having the power to push ahead in order to get ahead even in hard times, and even if at that time you are not happy. Just knowing the end resolute will lead you to the happiness that you are working to achieve. During this process there will be negative emotions such as feeling sad, fearful, shamed, and confused. You can still keep in mind of the positive as you fight through the negative emotions. The one thing that I believe research has not studied on when it comes to happiness or unhappiness, is music. Music can turn anyone's mood into a grand old mood. There are so many times that I felt like pulling my own eyes out just because I was so upset or be coming stressed to the max. Once the tunes go on the feeling of joy flows through my body and all around my mind, releasing joy and laughter. Positive emotions, no longer negative
emotions. The pursuit to happiness means different things to different individuals, such as the true key to one's pursuit to happiness. I for one believe the true key to one's true happiness is through knowing yourself truly. It should not matter what the country says is happiness or what they believe will make you happy. You owe it to yourself to have the true feeling of happiness and how one can have the control of their own happiness.
