This is an appropriate question for a qualitative research due to the fact that I am trying to figure out the live experience of someone that has survived a deadly event and how it changed someone’s life. Target population and how the participants are selected is a process that will be further explained in detail.…
Relationships with parents are important, having a good relationship with the parents enables strong communication links for whenever there is a problem and when information should be shared within the family, maintaining a connection with parents produces educational achievement as if they children has the attention and care that they should they will work hard to impress their parents/carers and the practitioner would get his/her appraisal, the children’s individual needs will be met if they have good grades…
Participants volunteered their interviews after being carefully selected by the ethnographer. Interviews were recorded for accuracy and verbal consent was obtained. “Ethnographic interviews are also unstructured (Polit & Beck, 2012)” and use descriptive, structural, and contrast questions to guide interviews. The method used for gathering the data in this study was called dialogical engagement. This is a type of interviewing style developed by Parse. The interviewer does not ask the participants direct questions, but rather leads with a very open-ended statement; directing the participant to say anything they choose about end-of life care. This style supports the purpose of the study by allowing the participants to share their experiences and views on caring for palliative care patients and their families in an organic fashion and without any form of direction from the…

I often use my subscriptions to online library databases like the National Defense University or the Joint Forces Staff College for research. To narrow the research, I utilized the National Defense University library database for articles and other information available on government and educational websites. These more reliable websites are easily identified by their domain names end in .edu, .gov, a reliable site should describe the evidence opinions, or advice should be clearly…

I conducted five intercept interviews by approaching people walking through Carytown , a local shopping area. I spoke with four women and one male. Two of the interviewees shared their ages which were 61 and 74.The other interviews were approximately 25-30, 55-60, and 70-75 years old. All the interviewees listed walking was one of ways they did physical exercise. The respondents who were retired or appeared retirement age all stated they walked regularly. The two respondents who said they worked indicated that having time to fit in exercise after work affected how much they exercised. Two of the women indicated they had walked for exercise their whole life. Three of the interviewees shared staying healthy, feeling good, and feeling limber…
Because of the differences in culture a nurse must continue to explain any assessment carried out on a child even when the child looks away or does not show eye contact with the nurse. The nurse should communicate with the parent first when dealing with a preschool aged patient or a toddler and this must be done in front of the child. This is done to gain the trust of the child before any medical procedure can be done. The nurse should always explain and give reasons to why the school aged child need a procedure to be carried out on him or her. For example, an asthmatic child may be scared of the nebulizing equipment but a nurse explained to him that the he will be able to breath better afterwards, the child will allow him or her to proceed with the treatment. This is because it will allow the child to see that the parent has accepted the treatment of the nurse and trusts them so the child should do the same. The parent will also be providing all of the health history for this age group children as well. The nurse should always have the parent in the room when talking to the child, this makes the child feel more comfortable. The nurse should familiar with the child’s way of communicating pain, before the treatment starts. Also, there are some treatments where the child will…

The author Judy Murphy states that the health care system should revolve around the patient, rather than the patient rotating around the hospital. The author talks about how a hospital centric view has evolved over the years to a more continuum of care view; a wellness/ health maintenance model where emphasis of care is outside the hospital in other venues such as outpatient, ambulatory/ clinic, and home care (Murphy, 2011). In this critical analysis we will demonstrate why we think she is right and analyze the four practices she thinks should contribute to a better patient centered care, and point out where the author comes up short.…
Nurses are responsible in providing holistic, quality care to their clients. In order to effectively provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 & 7) states that nurses must base their provision of care on the most current, up-to-date health information available and sound nursing knowledge. This is where evidence-based practice (EBP) comes in. Polit and Beck (2010, p. 4) defined EBP as "the use of the best clinical evidence in making patient care desicions". This usually comes from research conducted by nurses and other healthcare professionals. Thus it is pertinent that research reports are critically analyzed.…
