My topic in this essay will be:
Should not wearing a seatbelt be illegal? I choose this topic because it affects most of the people who drive at some point in their lifes, how many people have not wearen a seatbelt while driving or just to go to the shop? To be honest everyone must have done it at least once. Personally my opinion in this topic is that i think it should be illegal to not wear one, but i have a balanced view in why people do not wear it at times. My essay will cover different information, facts and peoples views about my topic, i will try to keep the arguement in a balanced view so that at the end of the essay i find out which view should be accepted.
Why do people not wear seatbelts?
One of the reasons why people do not wear them is because people say they have airbags, people seem to think that the airbags will stop you from flying out the window, but in case of a car crush you are more likely to unexpect the accident so a direct impact with an airbag would really be damageing and even more if you did not expect it. I´ve heard of people that did not wear a seatbelts and unfortunately had a car crush, these people all thought that they wouldnt hurt themselves because of the airbags, but they were wrong, in some cases the airbag did not deploy quick enough, it took 15-20 miliseconds to fully deploy, most airbags deploy at 150 miles per hour, the airbag did more harm than good, and it left people with major bruises and fractures in the peoples body. There is an estimate of 2.6 million cars around the world with airbag malfuction.
People say there is no need in wearing a seatbelt if you go really slow, but the reallity is that most crushed happen at a speed of under 40 miles per hour.
