him in Artime, but Aaron was too blinded by Justine’s evil ways and rules. Aaron was kicked out the Wanted University and is now looked down upon in Quill. He also pushes away Alex even though Alex is just trying to help him. Mr. Today looks at Alex and Aaron’s like his and Justine’s who turn out to be twins also: (McMann). Alex doesn’t want their relationship to be a constant war like it was for Mr.Today. He decides to talk to him again and Aaron is still stubborn in his ways of Quill. Alex realizes that he can’t change him and Aaron will have to change on his own. As the series goes on Alex and Aaron will either grow farther apart or settle their differences and become brothers again. Another conflict that Alex faces is with himself and how his choices will affect his life. Alex has the big decision if he wants to be Mr.Today’s apprentice and run Artime when he’s gone or not. Mr. Today is confident in Alex but instead Alex makes a list of reasons why he wouldn’t make a good leader. Alex has already told him no but Mr.Today mentions some secret magic that Alex would be taught only if he said yes. When he hears this Alex questions his decision: “” (McMann). My prediction is that in the future Alex will change his mind and he will accept the offer. The tempting choice to learn more magic that no one else knows is too enticing to turn down. Alex wants to learn how to create life like Mr.Today did with Simber. Alex isn’t the only one who faces conflicts after the war between Quill and Artime. Aaron faces conflicts between himself and the society of Quill after Justine dies. He gets kicked out of Wanted University and doesn’t know what to do. He knows that he can’t go back to his parents because they don’t think of him as a son anymore. Aaron is forced to grab as much food as he can from the farm he designed and needs to find shelter. He finds an empty house and decides finds something mysterious: “” (McMann). Aaron decides to go for a walk and head towards Artime where he is stopped by one of the large statue-like animals called Irjis. Irjis stops Aaron before entering Artime in an I-don’t-think-so moment :). No one seems to trust Aaron after the war and is seen as a traitor to Quill and an enemy to Artime. Many of these conflicts will be resolved as I read more and figure out more about these characters. These are only some of the conflicts in the story, but these are the major ones. The second book in The Unwanteds series continues the plot perfectly. Lisa McMann continues to build the relationships between characters. This book takes me on a wild ride of ups and downs and never seems to stop :). I am eager to read more and see where the story takes these characters and how their conflicts resolve.
