This is to set up readers to his essay, discussing the topic of the production and story elements that make the live performances of the Shakespeare plays, and how they effect audience perception. This type of perception, in the author's opinion, could result in the performance's interpretation of the various works of Shakespeare such as Othello with the use of various social and personal topics. The author believes that not only does the performances of Othello affect how the audience is to interpret Othello, but also how the elements and staging of the performance can bring up a troubling effect upon both race and gender by characters like Roderigo and
