This was established so an African American could apply for jobs or even be in public without discrimination. The civil rights movement was one of the main factors in gaining equal rights for all people. Until this movement was passed in the 1960’s, discrimination of African Americans was suggested. Africans Americans had to fight in wars to defend America. When they came home, they were treated poorly. The Civil Rights Movement helped with this problem. Racial Discrimination was not totally wiped out because of the Civil Rights Movement. Although, there is still racism in America today, the movement made sure that there are consequences to those who still practice racial discrimination. Barack Obama is the first black president in history. Without the Civil Rights Movement and how history went, having a black president would have never been possible. Black men and women face racial discrimination on a daily basis. Although many people say racism is not a problem in the world today; it is and is found in the news on a daily basis. It is not just a problem in the United States, but worldwide. People in society categorize and compare African Americans against the white. This is not fair because this can affect the jobs, housing, and education an African American can have. When it comes to racism in the workplace, there is an abundant amount of racial discrimination forced of African Americans when they get a job. Many studies have been done and it has shown that a significant proportion of the Africans Americans face discrimination. Racism in the past is completely different from today’s. Racism in the past is more specific towards anti-color/black. As for today’s, it is more about anti-poor people of color. People fear that poor people of color are more violent and more likely to commit major crimes than white people. But this is not true. Blacks are just as loyal and harmless as white people are. In society there are three different classes of people, lower, middle, and high. Today’s middle-class blacks and whites can get along. But middle-class whites usually do not get along well with low-class and high-class blacks.This is weird because they are still the same
