Racism: What Is Race My Favorite Thing?

I have to confess that talking about race is not my favorite thing. At least, talking about what I think when the subject race comes up. I don’t know how to define my own race, honestly. I am not white, and I am not black. But wait, is race only about white and black people as we hear every day on the news? I believe that many people get the subject “race” mistaken like I do. Maybe because what they have always known as race, or maybe because they don’t think the race issues affect them. To talk about race is way more than just discuss about skin color. It is such a complex subject, and involves all people either black, white, yellow, Latino or any other category that is sometimes used mistakably to defines and separates us. I feel like the media makes people think that race is just about black people doing harm to white people or acting like victims. It is not just that. Black people are not the only ones who can be bad people and not the only ones who acts like victims. Yes, they were victims for a long time, but they also have a history of courage, determination and victory, as white people also do. What about the other races? All of them have its issues, beauty, history, and they are all amazing. If we can see beyond skin color, we can realize that we are all
We interact with many different people and races every day and it is essential to not have pre judgements based on stereotypes that sometimes make some races inferior than others. People are not to be judged by their skin color, but by their actions and behavior. Also, to use own or somebody else’s skin color to justify a bad behavior or action should not be acceptable. Our race or skin color is not the only fact that defines us. Perhaps a whole semester talking about race will open our mindsets and views. I am looking forward for our discussions about race since we are such a diverse
