An Anonymous author stated, “Pitbull’s are beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without the vices.” (Anonymous) As a Pitbull owner, I feel that Pitbull’s are often misunderstood animals. In reality any animal, pitbull or even a Chihuahua can be mean or gentle. Love and caring wins out with animals just like it does with humans. Affection is what creates a good or bad dog. Not their type of breed or genetic makeup.…

The name of the bobcat is quite ironic, because it is literally from the fact that their tails are in fact bobbed, or short. It also has a binomial name, which is Lynx rufus. Interestingly enough, its’ scientific name comes of off Felis, which has to do with the cat family. There had been a debate on whether to classify this species as Lynx rufus or Felis rufus as part of a wider issue regarding whether the four species of Lynx should be given their own genus, or be placed as a subgenus of Felis. Ultimately the Lynx genus is now accepted. The bobcat belongs to the Animalia kingdon, the Chordata phylum and is in the Mammalia class. It is also a part of the Carnivora order and in the Felidae family. Not to mention the Lynx genus and being the L. rufus species.…

There's a reason cats aren't called man's best friend – and it's all in their genes, according to a new study. Cats are simply not as domesticated as dogs despite sharing households with humans for at least 9,000 years, researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine have found. The reason is because they have been able to retain their hunting skills and ability to see well during the night-time. Cats were first domesticated in the Near East about 10,000 years ago. The modern domestic cat is descended from a wild ancestor called Felis silvestris lybica. All 600 million house cats in the world have been traced back to five females of this species. They lived in the forests before they moved into villages. Ancient Egyptians worshipped…

They can be loving and caring but most of the time they want to be on their own. That doesn't mean that they don't care or love you. Even though a cat may show less affection than a dog, a cat loves you as much as a dog does. Cats are just as cute and adorable as a dog or just any other animal. Just like dogs, cats love to be with their owner and believe it or not they also enjoy a nice belly rub. One thing that some people do not know about cats is that when a cat is purring at you or walking around you, it is thanking you for being in their life. A dog may not be able to purr to tell you thank you, but they also love you for…

    Why Cats Are Bad Pets

    • 750 Words

In ancient Egypt, they held cats up high for poise and grace; they even had a goddess cat, named Bast (Bastet). When Egyptians lost their cat, they would mourn as if they lost a family member. To kill a cat, even accidentally, was an automatic death sentence. Cats were believed to be guardians of the gates of hell, and to prevent demons, ghouls, and spirits from escaping, and prevent them from entering homes of humans. So why people find this animal cute, adorable, and friendly is beyond me. Who would want a pet that was held up to be a god? That people have killed over and treated like a human? That is associated with hell and all its demons? Animals aren’t human, so these cats should be treated exactly like pets. Not equals, not “man’s best friend”, but an animal. You can’t take them everywhere with you like you can a dog, and if you leave them home, they may pee everywhere, claw up the couch, get into everything they shouldn’t, and make a ridiculous mess.…
