Rags To Riches
He woke up in a rock hard bed in a small wooden house in Minneapolis. "Another day, another dime," thought George as he was getting dressed. He marched up the stairs to see his adoptive parents fighting about money.
"We've been robbed again," said Fred, George's adoptive father. Debra, George's adoptive mother, was bawling her eyes out,
"We almost had enough to send you to college”. George took a look at the morning newspaper.
"Heir of wealthiest king in the world to be named at 5pm," George read out loud to his adoptive parents.
"If only we were the heirs to that fortune,” said Fred as he headed off to his job at a factory who made toys for McDonald's. George was watching the news, the reporter was talking about the heir to the king's fortune.
"We will need a DNA sample from everybody in Minneapolis," said the reporter, "Scientists will arrive at your house collect the DNA around 10am". George heard a knock on the door. He looked at the clock, 9:58. George called for his mother.
"Mother, the scientists are here to collect the DNA". Debra came down the stairs with one of her hairs in her hand, she placed it into the bucket the scientist was holding out. George pulled out one of his hairs and put it into the bucket.
"Thank you," said the scientists as the walked out the door. He walked back into the living room where his mother was about to teach him algebra. George was a smart boy but his parents weren't as bright as him, George would often end up teaching his parents stuff rather than the other way around. After the lesson Fred came back from work and they had dinner. They turned on the news as the heir of the king was being named.
"It's definitely not going to be me, mom or dad," thought George.
"And the heir to the $500 million fortune is George Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota , who will be given tickets to London where he will receive his fortune," said the reporter. George almost passed out when the reporter said his name. He looked over at his parents

The third person narrator captures the authenticity of the resentment presented by George. The use of the adverb ‘furiously’ appropriately describes George’s exclamation. In addition to the use of the punctuation in the quote “An’ whatta I got...I got you!”, the declarative effectively conveys the characters disillusionment. Furthermore, Steinbeck’s repetitive use of the word ‘you’ when adopting the voice of George, intensifies the accusation of Lennie as the source of contention. Evidence such as “You lose me ever’ job I get”, “You do bad things” and “You keep me in hot water”, exemplify George’s intolerance of Lennie’s conduct. However, the writer’s forged impact of George’s powerful accusations explicitly adopt an alternative tone, Through the line ‘He took on the elaborate manner of little girls when they are mimicking one another.’, the omniscient narrator creatively insinuates a theatrical dimension of George’s character,…

George was one of the three young men talked about in the book. He spent fives years living in the Stella Wright Housing Projects with his mother Ella Jenkins Mack and his older brother Garland, for families with low-income. He said, “Our building was a graffiti-covered, thirteen-story high-rise with elevators that smelled like urine and sometimes didn’t work.” George had become responsible at a young age since his mother worked all the time; he stayed out of trouble, was very smart in school, participated in school events and surrounded himself with positive people. Sam another young man talked about in the book was raised by his mother Ruthener Davis and his father, Kenneth Davis. Years later they divorced and that was the turning point for Sam’s family. His mother Ruthener had little education and no work experience which caused her to go on welfare. Sometimes it would be a struggle to get food or pay bills. She depended a lot on Sam, he read her mail, made bank deposits, and writing out money orders for bills. He likes having the responsibilities but Sam felt like it was too much for someone his age to handle. Rameck is the third one talked about in the book; he…
