He paddled a good distance to the ship and noticed that it was a small fishing boat. There were maybe three people on the boat that he could tell. He waved his ore up and shouted, but nobody seemed to notice him. He then had a brilliant idea, he would fire off the pistol and get their attention. He quickly found the pistol and without hesitation, shot if off into the sky away from himself and the boat. The people on the boat were startled and as Rainsford hoped, they noticed him. He paddled toward them quickly and got incredibly close to them to a point where he almost bumped into them. There was a young boy of Indian ethnic, standing at the edge of the boat.
