Ralph’s leadership starts of with the belief, “If this isn’t an island we might get rescued” (Golding 30). This quote seems important because what
Ralph believes in encourages him to control his actions and what actions he makes. This quote effects the others because since Ralph, the chief, believes they might get rescued, then the other boys think the same thoughts since Ralph believes it. It effects the outcome of the novel because of the actions the boys make regarding to their beliefs. Since they believe that they will be rescued they will do anything to make signals to get the attention of others which effects the ending of the novel.
The conflict between the boys caused Ralph to speak up and say, "All this I meant to say. Now I’ve said it. You voted me for chief. Now you do what I say” (Golding 115). This quote seems important because they voted Ralph for chief and the boys are trying to reelect chief and trying to take over his leadership. This effects others because the conflict can break apart the group of boys into two groups. This effects the novel negatively because it breaks them apart then they wont work together tp try and be rescued.
Ralph and Jack disagree in the novel many times, which leads them to arguing over who should be chief. They fight throughout the story saying things like, “You’re a beast and a swine and a bloody, bloody thief” (Golding 163). This quote seems important because Ralph and Jack were fighting over who will be chief which left effect on the littleuns and also the other boys. It effects them because if the two boys are fighting then they won’t know who to follow after which leads to decisions that shouldn’t need to be made by the others on the island. This effects the novel majorly by leaving a negative impact on the rest of the book.
Ralph believes that the signal fire should keep going and that they will get rescued, adapts to being called leader, and ignores most of things that other people say about him because he does not care which effects the novel positively. Ralph believes that they will get rescued if it is not an island, which will effect the other boys thoughts because Ralph (the chief) said so. Ralph and Jack begin to fight over things and Ralph seems to be getting mad because he’s chief and he makes the decisions for the group. Jack and Ralph now begun to argue novel who should really be chief. They are at different points on the island and they both believe in different things that they should do, which causes major conflict.
