A lot of music mentions women in the aspect of their bodies being the only thing a man notices. They are called many horrid names, and every woman is a "stripper" or a "crowd pleaser". These rappers like Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, or Future have little to no respect for women in general. The way that they sing about women encourage other men to abuse their wives and have a bad overall look on females in general. A female is never mentioned in a pleasant way in these songs and they become something that men feel obligated to have. Instead of "wooing" women into a relationship, they are instead "cat calling" them into a form of abuse.
A lot of rappers also get it into their heads that they are the best. They become so confident that they glorify themselves instead of the good things around them. Tupac is a very famous and inspired many people. He was the first person to combat social injustice and did not focus his songs on drugs alone. Rappers tend to rap to combat troubles that they are going through. Because rap is a way of expressing your feelings, it is a natural therapy and is proven to decrease anxiety. Eminem used his songs to express his hatred for his youth and his troubled family. He also used it to describe his love for his two daughters Haley and Laney.
Rap not only helps the artist but it also helps the people who listen to it. Many teens that listen to this style of music are somewhat troubled. They feel like they can relate to the songs on an emotional or physical level. Instead of acting on how they are feeling they turn to rap for a way of escape. The lyrics of many songs contribute to helping youth overcome thoughts of suicide and give them a reason to live another day.
