Most of the Filipino shoppers are looking for innovative and affordable products for corporate and personal giveaways especially Christmas seasons. Christmas gift ideas flock to various bazaars in the Philippines especially at World Trade Center, Metro Manila. The great thing about shopping in these most bazaars is that you will find number of clothes, toys, shirts, blouses, and other wonderful gifts at cheaper prices compare to malls.

December 16, 2010, on this day I and my fellow classmates went to World Trade Center, Metro Manila. We are assigned to visits and ask some exhibitors, guest, from some Christmas Bazaars. And we decided to be at World Trade Centre. Because we all know that every year, the management was holding Christmas Bazaars. And some of the exhibitors are artists from different network. But unfortunately we didn’t go there to buy clothes, shirts, blouses, toys for kids, accessories and other products that can be use as a gift for Christmas. Instead we are asked by our professor to asked some people around there,

When we are there, we didn’t expect that there will be an entrance fee. As far as I remember and if I’m not mistaken somebody told us that it is free entrance. That’s why we have a little hesitation. So we hesitated for awhile if we will go inside or not, and we will just find other place. But because we don’t need to waste our time and we are already there we pursue to go inside and do the task.

As we enter inside, the first that catch my attention was the handicrafts. I was about to but nobody was there. So I decided to roamed around and see other products. While I wandering roughly I noticed that people are busy looking for the best gift that they can have.

For me, there are three key points regarding the World Trade Center Christmas Bazaar
Festival. First, is the demonstration and workshops of products starting from simple crafts

Immediately upon walking through the elegant double doors, the sweet aroma of butter envelopes the air around me causing me to rapidly salivate. The smell of nacho cheese accompanies the butter fragrance and I quickly begin to picture the many tasty treats behind the square concession area that is located in front of me. Candy galore is perfectly aligned behind the glass case further enticing my taste buds. A perfect temperature keeps me comfortable and makes me wish my home's temperature could be this perfect. One well groomed attendant generously overfills a striped bag with freshly popped popcorn and delicately hands it to a young boy standing next to his mother. Colorful posters line the walls around me, showing a glimpse into what lies behind the doors located down the hallways. The softness of the bench I am sitting on causes me to wonder if I am perched upon a cloud. Intermittent bursts of laughter can be heard coming from down the long hallways as well as in the lobby creating an atmosphere of endless fun. Smiling faces of children, teenagers, and adults quickly pass by me and I can hear the attendant quickly tear their perforated tickets as he happily says, "To the left, third door on your right."…

“Looking is a social practice.” The authors begin Chapter 1 by reminding us that we do not “look” at anything without participating in a practice formed by a variety of factors, including the historical moment, social meaning, and intent of the creator. Practices of looking are also formed by power relationships; even the act of choosing to look or not to look is an act of power. We engage in the practices of looking every day, with an ever-increasing amount of visual artifacts permeating most cultures.…

For my report I chose the shop Pier 1 Imports, I have never heard about this shop before which shows that they have weak marketing strategy. So the reason of having gone to the Pier 1 Imports was actually a gift card presented to my parents. I would like to emphasize here that the gift card is a reason to make a purchase even if you don’t have intentions to buy anything. Another very interesting characteristic of the gift card, which not many people are aware of, is that the amount you are going to spend is much higher than the actual value of your gift card. We had $100 on our gift card but spent $200; because of the human nature we always tend to want more. And it is impossible not to buy something in Pier 1…

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

Another tradition is the reunion and for young Filipinos, it is the time when most grins are seen, parents are less likely to scold them, school works do not give too much pressure because there’s none, candies and chocolates fill their stomachs, and ninangs and ninongs fnally appear with their heart-warming gifts or aguinaldos, best dresses are worn and new shoes pamper their feet. For the old ones, this is the time when “thank you” becomes a common expression, sweat shirts and long sleeves which were kept in the deepest part of the closet are finally worn, and friends, both old and new, finally meet for the longest time.…

In the 4th chapter of “The Land Looks After Us” Martin starts by talking about a weather doctor that the tribe turned to for guidance after a total eclipse blocked out the sun. Though he was ill he helped and went into a trance which allowed his soul to find out what was going on. What he ended up seeing was a vision of god and all that neat stuff. After he became a prophet, I think what martin was trying to address with this story was that religion was not only spreading but it was also expanding and changing. One thing I think is kind of unfair of us (the white man) to do was basically force our religion onto them. Wovoka starts this new religion that was based around a dance that’s wasn’t new at all, which I find a little strange how he could get followers and believers with something that has been around for a while already. Another thing I believe Martin was trying to get across was that Wovoka’s new religion was very close to Christianity. Martin compares and contrasts the two very well. In the end I think that they are the same story told by a different person. Martin did a very good job with not only stating his idea but putting it in terms of not, “hey this happened” he actually explains and gets those small details that maybe don’t need to be said but should.…

    Lantern Parade 2013

It was exactly five in the afternoon on my watch as I started preparing to go to one of the most awaited yuletide events in my university. It was seven days before Christmas and the last day of classes for the year for the iskos and iskas before the holiday vacation kicks in. As a college freshman, this was my first time to witness the Lantern Parade and I honestly didn't know what to expect aside from seeing lanterns. It was said that the lanterns for this year's parade must be made from scrap materials and other eco-friendly supplies to reduce the cost of making the lanterns and all the money saved from these will be donated to the Yolanda-hit victims. I felt a tinge of curiosity and excitement. As I arrived at the Magsaysay gate of the University of the Philippines, I immediately noticed something different; there were a lot of people than usual. I walked a small portion of the stretch of the Magsaysay street before turning left after the Romvlo hall. From where I was standing, I saw an even bigger crowd of people. The parade was already starting and it was a quarter past five.…

Awesome, full of joy, and unforgettable are words to describe on that field trip last Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Naga City, Camarines Sur. It was not my first time to go there, besides I’m from Camarines Sur. I’ve been there since I was a child. During my elementary and secondary years, we also had educational tour or field trip there and visited those places exactly where we had our stops. It’s just, it made different because I went there with my new friends and classmates and besides, it was not beautiful as now. Aside from what we had learned about historical events, we developed camaraderie between us – students. We also developed good rapport and relationship among us.…
