Abstract
Dr. Mark Laaser (2004), is a recovering sex addict whose desire is to provide people with a knowledge of sexual addiction. He desires that sex addicts be healed of the cycle of addiction through his book. Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction demonstrates how a family with unhealthy dynamics can attribute to sexual dysfunction. The addict then learns to deal with pain threw escape and co-dependency, which contribute to the progression of deviant behaviors of sexual addiction. The result is pain for the addict who leaves behind a trail of victims. This behavior is contradictory to human behavior causing shame and guilt for the addict. The result of the compulsions lead the sex addict to act out in a way that destroys lives. The church is wounded due to the immorality of dysfunctional behavior. Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction offers hope for the wounded church as well as the addict.
Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction Sexual addiction is a widespread problem for the nation and the church. The person that is sexually addicted has been wounded and in turn wounds those closest to them. Sexual promiscuity attributes to an enormous amount of deaths, divorces, imprisonment, and child abuse, just to name a few. Dr. Mark Laaser (2004), is a recovering sex addict with a desire to correct dysfunctional sexual behavior in the family and church. He explains the cycle that leads to the disease of sexual addiction. Furthermore, he acknowledges the mistakes the church has made in handling sex addicts and their victims. He also demonstrates how the church can aid in correcting problems caused by this problem.
