At the corner of Makati Avenue and Pasay road glistens a 30-story floor that is home to two famous brands in the hotel industry, Fairmont and Raffles Hotel. There are three distinct properties, the Fairmont Hotel Makati that has 280 rooms, the 32-suite Raffles Makati, and 237 serviced apartments of the Raffles Residences. The Fairmont and Raffles brands may share the same property, restaurant outlets and function rooms; they are managed independently and have a different vibe into their three distinct properties. The Fairmont brand has its roots in Bermuda with a North American sense of service while the Raffles being Singapore based has an Asian approach to the hospitality industry. On July 10, 2013, the class of Architect Palafox held a hotel tour at Fairmont Raffles Makati at 7a.m. As soon as we entered the hotel there was a delightful greeting by Rey Moraga who is an alumni of Enderun Colleges who now works at the hotel. We gathered at the lobby as we were waiting for our other classmates to arrive. We were transferred to the Sampiro, one of their Function Rooms. The names of their different function rooms are derived from old Makati names where the hotel is situated.
Moreover, Mr. Matias explained our agenda for the hotel tour, consists of touring the Hotel (Raffles and Fairmont Front of the House and the Back of the House. They started by showing us a video on how Raffles and Fairmont differ from each other. In the video, it does not look obvious that they are marketing the hotel but their main focus is to “create memories for our guest.” As shown in the video that we watched it focused on how they make their memories with the guest by providing them a personal service for three generations of the family that stayed in the hotel. Starting on the tour, Ms. Princess Estrella who is from the Sales and Marketing Department will be the tour guide of our hotel tour. We
