Some crimes are so harsh and vile that LWOP (life without parole) doesn’t seem appropriate. Crimes like rape or murder are the most vile, disgusting and evil of crimes and sometimes seems like the only justice is capital punishment. I guess the way I’m thinking is similar to the …show more content…
phrase “eye for an eye” where if someone harms another person they get the same done to them, but only this is served through capital punishment. In this case I believe the title death for a death seems more fitting.
Some families feel lost, depressed and angry due to the loss or trauma that their loved one was put through.
Capital punishment, in some degree, may help relieve these feelings of anger and frustration; for there is a difference between revenge and retribution. Revenge: to exact punishment or expiation for a wrong on behalf of, especially in a resentful or vindictive spirit; Retribution: the act of punishing or taking vengeance for wrongdoing, sin, or injury. With these definitions you see that they are different, capital punishment which is served by the law as a punishment is retribution it’s not revenge which is similar to
murder.
So in the end I believe that capital punishment is beneficial to society for the reasons listed above. The costs of punishment are lowered and jails aren’t as packed. The families of the victimized are easier at heart knowing their loved one’s abuser is off the streets and out of this world. And finally this is a way to help prevent further heinous crimes in the future. For these previous aspects of my reasoning are why I clearly support capital punishment.
