First, recycling saves trees. This critical fact, one of the first environmental lessons many children learn, cannot be overstated. Half the Earth's forests are gone, and up to 95 percent of the original forest area in the U.S. has been cut down. In addition, recycling protects wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Using recycled materials reduces the need to chop down, extract, process, refine and transport natural resources such as timber, crude petroleum and mineral ores. As a result, destruction of forests, wetlands, rivers and other places essential to wildlife is also reduced. One more fact, that recycling lowers the use of toxic chemicals. Making products from already refined waste materials reduces -- and often avoids altogether -- the need for manufacturers to use toxic chemicals, essential when using virgin materials. Recycling helps curb climate change .Using recycled materials cuts down on the energy used in the manufacturing process, dramatically reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants. Recycling stems the flow of water pollution. Making goods from recycled materials generates far less water pollution than manufacturing from virgin materials. Turning trees into paper uses more water than any other industrial process in the U.S., dumping billions of gallons of wastewater -- contaminated with pollutants such as chlorinated dioxin -- each year into rivers, lakes and streams. Paper recycling mills do not pollute the water nearly as much, and usually use less of it. In addition, some recycling plants use treated wastewater for the manufacturing process.
I think that recycling is giving back to the resource pool of the planet. Each item has "energy". When you recycle, the "energy" is reused. If you do not recycle, e.g. a drinks can, that "energy" that could be had is lost, and so more energy must be expended to make more.
I believe that if you wish to continue living on the planet comfortably, recycling is not optional. In time to come we will look back and think it crazy that we did not recycle everything. If something cannot be recycled, it should not even be made!

Consumers have also begun to recycle more frequently which benefits the planet because its resources are not being consumed at a much higher rate. By recycling simple everyday items, such as glass or plastic, resources can be replenished. The cost of recycling is very economical because everyone profits from it. Landfills are filled with some materials that are not biodegradable and recycling these items reduces not only the amount of waste in the landfills, but also keeps energy consumption and pollution down. For example, recycling the newspaper or any type of paper will prevent…

The sub claim Bandow has about recycling creating more air pollution has little evidence to back it up, but when factories are producing “renewed” items they are using energy that may or may not needed to be used. The author says “For instance, producing paperboard burger containers yields more air and water pollution and consumes more energy than does manufacturing polystyrene clamshells. It takes more water to recycle newsprint than to make it afresh”. The author claims it would be better to make new materials out of commodities that haven’t already been processed in factories or used by people. Are recycled items really beneficial to the environment or simply a “feel good” factor to thinking we are helping?…

When people lose their dignity, they also lose a part of the very thing that makes them human. Despair, hopelessness, fear and apathy are all ways a human can lose their humanity. The eyes provide a window onto the soul, and thus a view on the person's mental state. The eyes also function in reverse, as a symbolic gesture of control over someone. All of this is present in Night, by Elie Wiesel, an account of human tragedy, human cruelty, human dignity, and the loss thereof.…

It is important to our planet because it reduces the waste in our landfills and the amount of energy in production. There are several benefits to recycling such as it conserves natural resources, decreases emissions of greenhouse gases, reduces the need for landfills and incineration, and helps to prolong the environment for the generations to come.…

In 2013 we produced 254 million tons of waste. Of this 254 million tons: we recycled 34%, which isn't a bad number. But of the rest of our waste that ends up in landfills: half could be recycled. That’s 84 million tons of waste that could be reused. So why are we just letting it get buried with the rest of our garbage? Recycling may be expensive and inconvenient in the beginning. But research shows the long term benefits of mandatory recycling programs. These benefits outweigh the initial inconvenience and expense.…

Recycling has been a well known idea for so many years, but now we need it more than ever. Now in the world there are so many problems with the environment like Global Warming, toxic waste, and not to mention not recycling is very costly but recycling reduces the landfill space, helps conserves natural resources, and reduces the production of greenhouse gases . When you recycle you also help save animals so the rims of a six pack of soda doesn’t end up blocking a fish's gills or a plastic bag getting eaten by a turtle and having it choke on the bag. Recycling can also be a group effort where you get a group of people from your community, school, church, job, or just you and your friends so not only your saving the environment but your having fun with people you know while doing it.…

Due to this, not recycling plastic can lead to many problems in our environment. Recycling plastic promotes the conservation of energy and natural resources. It also contributes to the decrease of water and air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. To add, recycling plastic can save landfill space, or structure…

Additionally, another reason why we should recycle is it lessens deforestation. Deforestation is a big problem. It’s the destruction of forests, while in the process of making it into another space for something else. While continuing to make products from wood. This kind of deed leaves our animals and planet in danger. Deforestation not only destroys the habitats of our animals, but it also pollutes out atmosphere. With recycling, we fix this problem by reusing products and waste to make new items. Leaving the forests out of the process.…

Currently in America the average person throws away seven and a half pounds of garbage every day. Most of this garbage goes into to landfills, where it's compacted and buried. These lands fills have huge impacts on the environment; they cause pollution to the local environment by contaminating the groundwater and aquifers, contaminating the soil, and producing methane. One of the ways to help reduce this problem is by recycling.…
