To start off we are going use verbal irony. In “Home Alone’’ when the criminals are in Kevin’s driveway and the head burglar says “ go check it out.” the other criminal responses by “ What now.” THe head criminal responses with “ No Tomorrow! YES NOW!!” So this shows that the head criminal is being sarcastic. In “Ransom of Red Chief’’ the verbal irony is used on page 74 paragraph 4 it states “ ‘You had better come at night, for the neighbors believe he’s lost. I couldn’t be responsible for what they would do to anyone they saw bringing him back.’ “ This shows that he wouldn’t hold the people back if they try hurting Sam and Bill for bringing him back. Another kind of irony used is situational. For “Home Alone’’ the situational irony is used when Kevin doesn't know his family has left for vacation but we do. He thinks he has sent them away but they actually forgot him. This proves by watching the movies you can see the family leaving and him thinking he has made his family disappear. So we can stuff happen in the movie that Kevin actually doesn't know that has happened. The situational irony for the book “Ransom of Red Chief” is on page 74 paragraph 3 it states “ ‘ You bring Johnny home and pay me $250 dollars in cash. I will then agree to take him off your hands.’ “ So this shows the you would never see the dad wanting the criminals to pay for …show more content…
One of the made modern uses are the use of phones in “ Home Alone”. In “Home Alone” they use phone when the mom finds out she left Kevin at home she hurries when she gets to the airport to call. In “Ransom of Red Chief” on page 69 paragraph 9 it states “ So to relieve Bill, I agreed. Together we wrote a letter that ran this way.” This shows that in “Home Alone” is more modern then “Ransom of Red Chief” because of phones. Another way ‘’Home Alone” is more modern is they have cars where in “Ransom of Red Chief” they have horses. My evidence for “ Home Alone” is when the criminals pull up in Kevin's driveway they are in a car. In “Ransom of Red Chief” the evidence is on page 62 paragraph 11 it says “ At last we got him down in the bottom of the buggy and drove away.” So they use buggies in “Ransom of Red Chief” where in “Home Alone’’ they use cars. The final made modern thing is In “Home Alone” is they watch tv. In “Home Alone” Kevin watches tv and eats a bowl of ice cream when he first learns his family is gone. In “Ransom of Red Chief” they have to use their imagination. The evidence the support the idea is “We’re making Buffalo Bill's show seem as exciting as a town hall meeting.” So they use their imagination to bring their entertainment to
