Introduction
Industrial Attachment is part of the four (4) year graphic design program which one cannot do without. I was fortunate to have a place of attachment to learn and improve in designing as a graphic designer and to be ready for the real world of work.
CafnPrint, a café and an advertising company was established in August 2010 by Mr. Stanley Antwi. It is situated in Tema, community 8 near the Light House Corner Stone Chapel on the MTN block.
The company has two divisions, the café and the print house. As the name sounds, it is form the words café and print.
I had the opportunity to work for this company during my attachment as a designer. Since it was established not too long ago, it has only 2 designers, a creative designer and one other designer who I joined in to make up a total of three (3) designers.
Introduction to my co-workers was the first thing following the machines being used.
I was immediately advised by my boss to work so I can get paid and also learn more from my attachment. I was taken to my desk and to be honest, I was a little nervous but recovered with a thought of that advice and what I was to do there; to learn and also get paid.
Challenging Experience
In everything one does, a twist or turn will be faced in one way or the other. It was no different during my time at Cafnprint. I faced some challenges. Below is an outline of my challenges.
Identification
I was given my first task during the very first week. I was sent to the field to do some measurement of sliding doors of an ICGC church branch for a one way vision (OWV) design. This was a little challenging since the people didn’t know me when I got there. It took me sometime to explain to them who I was and what my mission was. The people told me to show an identification to prove am from the company. Honestly I had no identification and this make me look somehow stupid. I couldn’t take the measurement and they told me to go back and report
