I have become more independent and acknowledge in order to achieve personal goals you must take action over your own learning and experiences. There are many types of practices I want to become exposed to prior to graduation. In order to accomplish these goals I must take the initiative to put myself out there and make these opportunities happen. Attending trainings and professional development seminars has allowed me to network and gain experiences in specialized areas. Additionally, immersing myself in my field placement by working with other school professionals such as administrators, office staff, nurse, and teachers in order to collaborate for different reasons has attributed to a diverse outlook. Furthermore, my supervisor is not always present so I have had to utilize my leadership skills to make my time meaningful and worthwhile. I anticipate the most difficult challenges as a potential supervisor will be the ethical responsibility to ensure interns are providing quality services to clients. As supervisors we will have a duty to ensure we are protecting the individuals we serve as well as mentor and attribute to the process of building competent and prepared future social workers. Specifically, it will be a difficult to navigate through situations where interns are failing to meet established expectations or are struggling in the field. Relying on the Code of Ethics to aide difficult decision making is a good practice. Following ethical boundaries will ensure acting on the best interest of yourself and clients. As professionals we have an obligation to abide by the principles set forth in the established codes. For this situation in particular protecting the rights of our clients is our main priority and interns who are not demonstrating readiness would be subjecting our at-risk situations. Being the clients we serve are already in vulnerable positions their needs must be taken into consideration
