Ethics in Social Services
Introduction
All of us at a certain point of time have to encounter the situation of ethical dilemma in personal or professional life. In any field of life, there are certain ethics that every associated professional has to follow. In social services, focus on ethical behavior is of importance, as it is a part of the nature of these services. The social workers many times go through situations where they have to face moral or ethical dilemmas, which can be due to many reasons. Justice (Social distribution of benefits and burdens) The benefits of risks of research must be distributed fairly. There should be fair processes and results to select the research subjects for both individuals and society. Therefore, looking at these principles, Richard should follow the voice of his internal soul. If he feels justice needs to be given to Denny, then he should raise his issue to the authorities. He may have to face consequences, but what is ethical should be given importance. One should not forget that the state has tightened the norms and people, who were earlier entitled to be in custody of the state are now excluded from the entitlement. Denny, therefore, seems to be at the losing side here (Ebbesen, Andersen, & Pedersen, 2012). Richard therefore, requires taking the case to the higher authorities to get custody for Denny. As the question arises of his relationship with his colleagues, he should not forget the principles of ethics being a social worker. He should not put up this case aggressively just to prove anybody wrong. As things can be sorted out easily, he has to take everyone into confidence and also raise voice jointly against the tighter norms. If a person is in mentally deep critical condition, he deserves a fair and appropriate treatment from the people around him.
