The article "Critical Thinking: What it is and Why it Counts" was exceedingly enlightening (Facione, 2011). To be a true critical thinker, when assessing research for my paper, evaluating the researcher’s objectivity is paramount. I should question if the author truly is looking at the evidence of the research or is he including his own bias. I need to evaluate the inference, explanation, interpretation and analysis of the data collected (Facione, 2011). After getting an appropriate idea of what bias the author may or may not have, I need to perform my own critical thinking process to develop my own thoughts that follow the critical thinking process including self-regulation (Facione, 2011). These concepts are very helpful; they provide a process to utilize formulating research in an objective way.
My research questions asked about the trajectory of adolescent children who are diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. I do believe the articles I selected do not show bias and are well thought out. These articles have given me insight that I did not have before.

How do these individuals’ adult lives ensue? Are they on medication? What kind of occupations do they have? Do they have healthy relationships? Did the participants engage in mental health care as adults? I believe my questions are those that would be difficult to quantitate with a large group of participants and the various methods used to collect the data, however, my interest in this subject is primarily concerned with the quality of life.
