1. Describe your evidences: What are they? In what context were they created and/or used?
The first artifact I have attached is a small group lesson plan and a performance observation conducted by my university supervisor. The small group lesson that I have attached was taught during Literacy Block in the fall of 2014. I taught this reading lesson to first graders at Woodstock Elementary to high-level readers. During this lesson, the students were to respond and discuss comprehension questions throughout the story and re-write the ending to the story. The performance observation form completed by my university supervisor outlines the strengths and weaknesses the lesson had. It gave great feedback on how to revise my lessons …show more content…
Also included are six reflections following each lesson and a general reflection demonstrating my knowledge of written communication and professional writing. The lesson plans are organized as before, during, and after reading. Throughout the lesson, I have included areas of discussion before reading the story, discussion throughout the reading, and then discussing the story in detail after reading. After each lesson is a reflection outlining the effective and non-effective strategies used while teaching. Lastly, included in my Literacy Block notebook is a general reflection of my time teaching reading to first graders at Woodstock Elementary School. This reflection outlines the strengths and weaknesses I encountered and how I, as a teacher, can improve upon my teaching …show more content…
How does the math technology assignment demonstrate my understanding of the role mathematics plays in everyday life?
The attached math technology lesson demonstrates my knowledge of how math and technology play a role in everyday life. The math lesson created focused on multiplying using standard multiplication. This lesson could demonstrate that multiplication is used in everyday life when buying certain things in bulk. This lesson activated their prior knowledge of multiplication strategies. How does the assignment demonstrate my knowledge of technologies that support the learning of all students?
In order to introduce a new strategy to the students, I showed them a video outlining the steps of standard multiplication. Integrating this technology to the students gave them a visual and oral insight of how to multiply two-digit numbers. Using technology to teach students math gives them a more hands-on approach to learning. Since technology is becoming more prominent in learning, students enjoy being able to work and it motivates them to participate and learn. There are many different forms of technology that could be integrated into math lessons including smart board activities and computer games to enrich their
