and what we perceive people as. Unfortunately, sometimes we marginalize them because of their quote on quote race. They mentally group them into categories or as we call it races based on their biased perceptions.
The last person I interviewed was my best friend Jozlyn. The first question I asked her was how many races you think you are. She said: I think I am two different races, Chinese and Filipino. The next question I asked her was do you think one race is superior to another biologically, spiritually, and/ or morally? Her response was: I do not think any race is superior mentally, physically, or spiritually because even though I was raised in one culture I’ve been exposed to many different people of different people of different backgrounds, enough to know that everybody is different and there is no inherent superiority. Lastly, I explained to her in my own words what I thought social construction of race means, I said: A social construct refers to something that does not have a basis in the natural world but is an artificial distinction created by humans. Her response: yeah sounds about right. We are not inherently different. Genetically we are all humans but just different culturally.
