Reflection On The Salvation Army's Dustbusters

During High School, I volunteered my time helping out the Salvation Army’s Dustbusters, a group dedicated to bringing children up to the age of twelve together. After I was accepted into the group as the Activity Leader, I was trained with the knowledge I needed about children abuse. Some of the signs, for example include: anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, odd behaviour and interactions with parents/ adults and injuries. I needed to know the signs of child abuse because if I saw a child that appeared to be or has been abused I would contact my Supervisor at the Dustbusters’ group and we would take the appropriate actions from that point on.

Knowing the signs of child abuse is helpful but it wasn’t all that I learned at the Salvation
