Reflection Paper On 9/11

On September 11th, hundreds gathered in lower Manhattan in remembrance of the events 15 years ago at the World Trade Center and to honor the thousands of lives that were lost due to the attacks. The ceremony began early in the day with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus singing the national anthem, and throughout there were six moment of silences all signifying a hit or strike to the Towers, Pentagon or plane crash. Most families were comforted by being in the presence of other grieving families and others who get how they were feeling. Although being with others who felt the same, some said the commemoration brought back painful memories. While for many of the families the area surrounding the WTC site remain a place of solitude, the recent changes to the area had some at unease and others not. Because this subject hits close to home for me, though being only three, my close family friend lost her husband to the events that occurred on 9/11. She and her husband were very close to my family and I, being more like aunt and uncle than friends. Till this day we still look back at pictures and remember him for the courageous man he was. For me this article just mad me have that heavy feeling in my heart. This event just makes me wonder what if that were my dad or any other daughters father, mother. While reading this article, I got flashbacks of my childhood, and how my family and teachers remembered those that lost their lives and how the events of that day 15 years ago still affects us today. 9/11 will forever be a day that any American, whether they've lost a loved one or not, wont forget.
