Reflections on New Testament Survey
I feel the New Testament is the living story of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ; this is why Christians need to read it in order to get an understanding about whom Christ Jesus really is and his message of eternal life. The New Testament provides an rich amount of information about Jesus’s life, teachings, and his crucifixion. The New Testament also gives a practical understanding into Jesus the man, what he was and is like, and how he responded to a wide array of conditions. In my opinion, there is no other book written by man, which can provide the revelation, insight, and knowledge about Christ Jesus. After reading the New Testament in its complete entirety, I feel I have a good foundational understanding about Jesus, and what He is like, in order to build upon for future studies. The New Testament Survey class has provided a beneficial understanding of Jesus, by learning from what He has done as recorded in the New Testament. After this course is completed, using new insights I have gained from its teachings, I know that I can make a difference in the lives of others, in my family, church, and the community. I feel the people in my life could benefit from what I have learned, my ideas, compassion, and spiritual outlook. One example of how this course has affected my intellect is my desire to want to dig deeper into the scriptures. Some of the studies and assignments during the workshops created more questions than answers. I often felt that I was expected to give minimal effort during research; however, the opposite occurred in that my interests were heightened. Another example is a direct result from my desire to do a more in-depth exegetical study, there by shedding more light on scriptures and gaining a greater understanding by a more thorough study, finding meaning where previously there was none and reading between the lines.
