By letting them take the control and listen to their experience, we assume the role of the student learning about their client's lives. In the past two weeks of my internship I have learned about a Muslim religion, many of the participants in the agency are observing Ramadan, that for me was the first time heard about it. As I was observing lunchtime, some of the participants were placed in a classroom aside of the lunch room, I did not ask why there were there since occasionally they are many participants, so they separate rooms, to be less crowded. After the food was served in the main room, I notice that the second room was not called, so I stand and asked if there are calling them, and the boys didn’t let me finish and they explain to me that there are observing Ramadan, so I asked, that I have not heard that, can you please tell me more about it. And they were happy to share. I learned about how Ramadan is not about to give up bad habits temporarily, is about starting point to become a better Muslim and give them up for good.
