Reflective Essay Analysis
I think sometimes when it comes to identify a particular essay or a paper that we wrote in previous assignments we will most of time find that they all had their own obstacles and difficulty’s in the process of writing them. It seems that when we finish with an assignment we think that that might have been the hardest paper we had to write about, but then comes other challenge or a paper and then we think that the old one was easy and doable. For example this semester we had to deal with these types of essays that had their challenges: Brief Literacy narrative, Commentary, Dual perspectives research, and the researched argument paper. The most essay or assignment that I had the most difficulty with is the commentary essay. Since it was commentary and I could write about the topic that I wanted and not having to do any Reacher on it, I felt comfortable and was not focused on the important steps of the writing process like; the organizing, formatting, run-ons, the word choice and so on. I had trouble with punctuation, the commas going inside the quotes in the MLA formatting, and couple of run-ons here and there, and last …show more content…
Also when doing a Reacher assignment whether it was for work or for my classes. My critical thinking process has improved in analyzing an evaluating of the issue I am writing about in order to make my point strong and how I stand or feel on the issue I am writing about. The brainstorming and the critical thinking that I developed in this semester will defiantly help me in my next classes even if it was working on something at home or applying these skills in the work place too. Hopefully I can still improve myself into developing these techniques in the

I have several areas that were difficult for me. The areas I know that I need improvement on are developing the outline points into body paragraphs clearly, narrowing down my points and not trying to put too much information into an essay. Another area that is difficult for me is reviewing another’s work and trying not to sound too mean or even nice with my comments.…

I am able to communicate more proficiently using words that have a specific connotation to convey how I am feeling towards the subject. Most of the papers that we have written in class were persuasive so I would argue my position by stating statistics or facts to prove my point. Even though I have to keep in mind that I needed to avoid including biased feelings, I have learned how to properly balance an argument so that the audience can see both side’s perspectives and see how one cleanly outweighs the other. Critical thinking is something that I have incorporated into my writing because I want the reader to make logical conclusions from the…

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

Focusing on Critical Thinking helped me to expand my knowledge more effectively and write papers where I reflect my views using the knowledge I have gained through research. The goal of College Studies in Critical Thinking is expressed as “Students will learn various modes of inquiry through interdisciplinary curricula” investigating with open eyes, conceptualizing" in order to become active, self-motivated, and empowered learners in different subjects.” I feel like Critical Thinking Studies really taught me these skills much better. I no longer read just to get through the reading, but I read the material and reflect on it with what I already know and compare my views to the author’s views to see on what I disagree with and what I agree with. Critical Thinking skills have also allowed me to become a more effective arguer and in debates not just in the class, also in my life. It has taught me to look at other’s views critically and other than insulting them personally but instead find a flaw in their views and use that…

English has never been my favorite subject in high school because I struggled with essays. When I created an essay, I knew what I wanted to say and what point I was trying to make. However, putting words down to express my ideas and using correct grammar, was very difficult. My MLA format and spelling was adequate, nevertheless I would have many grammar issues and my thesis sometimes needed improvement. My English professors focused on famous writers, their work and the consequences of plagiarism; they did not emphasize how to correctly do citations, or what a portfolio truly is. When I started English Composition One, I realized there was still much to learn. This course taught me the proper way to construct a professional portfolio and how to correctly cite my work.…

Personally, I like very specific directions in order to structure my essay. This helps guide my conversation in my essay. Essentially, when im confused on the purpose or what my “so what” is I find it very challenging. With that being said, second semester essay #2 and #3 were the most difficult. I found it hard to just compare to things, I felt as though I had to come to a profound realization. This made me realize that is was just a different type of essay.…
