It started
out with my mom wanting me to help because she knew I needed hours for National Honor Society. I love helping people, so I decided to do it. I have never liked reading at all and so I hoped this would help me, and it did. When we started working together I always looked to the bookshelves and tried to find books to read. I got kind of excited and that’s when I signed up for my first library card. My mom found a book for me, I read the summary about it, and I fell in love. This book also kind of got me hooked on reading. I would read the book in between chores, after practices, and really just anytime that I had to myself.
This book got me wanting to read and find more books. Whenever I got to go to the library to help them move, I always looked at the books I was putting on the shelves and wondered if I would like them or not. I didn’t think I would for most of them because I mainly put the romance books away. I also put the popular authors in the shelves and that was a lot more fun because I actually liked some of them.
When the library was moving locations we weren’t allowed to check out books, but we were allowed to give the books back. I gave my first library book back and helped everyday waiting and wanting to check out another. By the time the library opened again I already knew the book I wanted to check out. After the move I checked the book out and although I finished the book yet, I already know that I love it. My librarian and I also have the same taste in books. Because we both love the same types of books we give each other ideas on what books to read. We both like the Dystopia genre. She has told me a bunch of books to read already, and although I don’t have enough time to read through all of them in a week, I have the books I want to check out the next five times already picked out. The Turtle Lake Public Library is definitely my literary sponsor because of what I did over the summer. I couldn’t thank Alison enough for becoming my mom’s friend and former co-worker. If it weren’t for their friendship I would never have had this chance in life. The Turtle Lake Public Library has because my literary sponsor because even though I still am not a big fan of English or reading, I like it just a little bit more than before.
